Happy Poultry Day!

Did someone say Poultry Day? As in chicken, quail, turkey, duck, goose, and pheasant? Yep - it's National Poultry Day! If you're a dog or cat, try not to drool too much on the keyboard and enjoy these cute pictures of poultry.

  8. Wow Ann, That California Quail is a gorgeous bird!! I would love to see one in person. I have friends here is the rural area that I live in and they have chickens...the everyday variety of Rhode Island Reds and a few other breeds, but I think the cutest one (although not extemely friendly) are their Guinea hens and roosters...but man are they mean!! One of my friends calls them her watch dogs...they raise such a stink when anything strange happens by the coop. Pretty soon here in Michigan we will begin to see all the goslings and Signets as we have a protected marshy area where the geese and swans nest...what a beautiful picture they make in early spring. We love to watch them mature throughtout the summer! Everyone have a great Poultry day!! Charmaine and all the kitties at Kitty Kanteen

    1. I've met some guineas before, and I have to admit that I think they are kind of ugly lol. If you've ever met one up close and personal, they are also very stinky!

  12. Poultry. Yum. The geese in my neighborhood leave me treats all the time. Mom always says, "NO!! That's disgusting! Don't you dare eat that!" But I do, sometimes - if I'm quick enough.

    Love and licks,

    1. Yea, I thought about the peacock afterwards... not sure if it's considered "poultry" though. Got to meet a baby peacock once, was pretty cute.
