An Easy Way to Help Keep Your Dog's Smile Healthy

I love testing and reviewing new pet products that I've never tried before. (Shiner does too!) It's even better when I get the chance to review a product that I've known and loved for many years. Today, I want to share our review of Virbac C.E.T Enzymatic Oral Hygiene Chews for Dogs that we received from EntirelyPets

When can I get to the taste test part of this review?

I want to start off by saying that these are something I have given Shiner in the past. I've also recommended and sold many of Virbac's oral health products for pets to many other pet parents when I worked at the veterinary hospital. They really are veterinarian recommended.

C.E.T Enzymatic Chews are a rawhide chew that help prevent plaque buildup on your dog's teeth. I know what you're thinking - "Isn't that what all these dental chews claim to do?" These chews are different in that they contain a special enzyme which fights plaque and the build-up of bacteria in your dog's mouth. Plus, rawhides have a naturally abrasive texture which is good for a dog's teeth when they chew. And your dog will thank you because it's safe for them to have these chews on a daily basis!

The first ingredient in the chews is beefhide followed by dextrose. The dextrose is needed as a food source for the enzymes - Aspergillus niger.

I've always been under the impression that these rawhide chews are easily digestible by dogs and have never met a dog that had a problem with them. Of course, as with any chew treat you need to make sure your dog chews it up well.

And what does Shiner think of the chews? I didn't get any great photos of her with her C.E.T Chews because she was too busy trying to inhale them. She's not very good at savoring her chews and treats unfortunately. I did get a nice drool shot though. So yea, she loves them! But like I said, she's had these in the past and I already knew she would.

Finally!

Unfortunately, the chews are not made in America which I think is the main downside to them for me. They are made in our neighboring country of Mexico.

Overall, we were very pleased with our C.E.T. Chews from EntirelyPets. They were packaged nicely and arrived in a timely manner. I think the price is very reasonable at $9.99 for a bag of 30 medium sized rawhide chews.

  1. This sure as heck beats pinning a dog down and shoving a toothbrush in their maw!

  2. I only had rawhide once. I chewed it up too fast and then I started panting for about an hour. Mom was totally freaked out. So no rawhide anything since then :( I wish I could have these tasty CET chews, but at least I get the tasty CET toothpaste =D

    1. Oh wow Remy! I would be scared if I was your mom too. CET toothpaste is probably almost as good!

  4. These sound awesome except for the Mexico part, and I'm not judging however Titan only get USA stuffs. Then there's the fact that he's not allowed to have rawhide cause Momma ends up putting her hand down his through to grab the rawhide cause he doesn't like to chew them up. LOL Very digusting gagging stuff going on there, ya know? But these do sound pretty good. I've been looking at Titan's teeth and he has a couple dirty molars. Debating on how the heck I'm gonna get them clean! Eeek!

    1. Ah well only the best for Sir Titan ;) Shiner is not great about chewing up her treats either. Once you've got tartar buildup, usually the only way you can get rid of it is with a professional teeth cleaning.

    2. Yeah that ain't gonna happen with him cause I won't have him put under for that. Guess he's teeth aren't that bad for 4.5

  8. When Vlad & Barkly go to the vet, they always give them a CET for a treat, but it's not the rawhide ones. It's these: http://www.entirelypets.com/cetvegdenlg.html

    1. We sold those too but they just didn't seem quite as popular as the rawhide chews for some reason or another. Still that's a pretty good treat to get from the vet :) Some of our friends are reviewing those on their blogs too.

    2. I don't particularly like it, but I brush their teeth every day with the CET toothpaste. Kind of a bonding/training ritual of sorts. It gives them experience when the vet wants to look in their mouth instead of fighting it like a lot of dogs do. Just have to say, "Give him the toothies."

    3. That's awesome! I totally fail at brushing Shiner's teeth. I'm going to try a homemade dog toothpaste recipe soon I think. You're right that it's a good way to get them used to people looking in their mouths.
