Pinteresting Pets | Top 10 Pet Pins on Pinterest

I love Pinterest. Lately, I've seen quite a large increase in Pinterest followers. If you aren't following Pawsitively Pets on Pinterest yet, just click here to visit our profile and follow our pet boards.

Some of my Pinterest boards.

Pinterest is such an addicting social media website and it is a great way to bring people to your blog. It's one of this blog's top sources for traffic, in fact. I thought it would be "pinteresting" to browse through some of my pins and see which ones are the most popular. I don't just pin things from my own blog, I share a lot of other blogs' images as well.

I will admit that I didn't look through every single pin to find the best ones. That would have taken forever! These images have some of the most re-pins by others on Pinterest. Anyways, these are our top 10 Pet Pins from all of our pet boards over on Pinterest. Take a peek at these very pinteresting pets!

1. 5 Super Healthy Treats for Your Dog via Examiner- 1215 re-pins and 57 likes.

I find it interesting that one of my top pins is a photo of carrots... who would have thought? I am the Austin Pet Health Examiner and I wrote this article quite some time ago. It gets re-pins on a daily basis.

2. Wordless Wednesday: Lights via Spencer the Goldendoodle - 635 re-pins and 122 likes.

When I first shared this image from Spencer's blog, it had a huge response on Pinterest. Especially with the holidays. Spencer is such a photogenic dog, it's no wonder that it was such a popular photo!

3. Dog of the Month: Alaskan Malamute via Plexidoor Pet Doors - 446 re-pins and 95 likes.

This blog always has something interesting posted, including lots of posts about unusual dog breeds. The Alaskan Malamute was the "Dog of the Month" for December, and there is nothing unusual about its popularity. This is a stunning photo of one.

4. 3 Easy Dog Grooming Tips from a Vet Tech via Dolly the Doxie - 165 re-pins and 24 likes.

I wrote this post as a guest blog for Miss Dolly the Doxie back in October. Dolly picked out the images, and she did a great job because this one seems very popular!

5. What is a Veterinary Technician? | National Veterinary Technician Week via Pawsitively Pets - 140 re-pins and 35 likes.

This image is from my own blog, and I did create it myself. I wanted to try to make something that was visually appealing. Looks as though I succeeded!

6. October 2013 BarkBox & Beamer's Halloween Costume via Us On Cloud 9 - 93 re-pins and 18 likes

This photo is just hilarious! This is Beamer's Halloween costume and I think Kat is pretty creative for coming up with it. Everyone loves funny dog photos. Thanks for sacrificing your dignity for a funny photo Beamer!

7. National Pit Bull Awareness Day via Sheba's Life Story - 89 repins and 31 likes.

I've seen this image floating around the internet, and yes it is quite popular. I love this post that Ian wrote regarding National Pit Bull Awareness Day and was honored that he asked to use one of my own personal photos for his post.

8. Flog It Blog It, Thankful Thursday! via Molly the Wally - 89 re-pins and 28 likes.

Molly always has something laugh-worthy happening at her blog. Apparently, guinea pigs dressed like Santa Paws are quite a hit!

9. Apartment Living With Pets | Tips to Help Reduce Stress During a Move via Pawsitively Pets - 85 re-pins and 15 likes.

This is another pin from my own blog. It's an infographic with some interesting information included on it. I won't post the entire image here because it's rather large... but you can see it on Pinterest here if you like.

10. Halloween Costume Ideas for Small Pets via Pawsitively Pets - 77 re-pins and 33 likes.

Again with the guinea pigs in costumes. They sure are cute when they are dressed up! This time, it's for Halloween.

If you are unsure of the power of Pinterest, now you know that it can be a very powerful tool! Most of my most popular pins aren't even from my own blog!

And remember that sharing is caring. There are many different ways to share a blog's posts, and Pinterest is a great way to start! Also, thank you to everyone for letting me share your personal images for this post. Much appreciated!

And here is a useful tip I would like to share with my fellow blogging friends. I just learned about this and think it's pretty cool. If you want to see who's pinning your images from your blog, just use this link:

http://pinterest.com/source/URL

Then, fill in the part that says "URL" with your blog's address. For example, I would type in the following to see who has pinned stuff from my blog:

http://pinterest.com/source/mypawsitivelypets.com

Pretty cool little trick, eh?

  2. Thanks for sharing these boards. I've also found that a majority of my traffic comes through Pinterest as well.

  3. Well you will now see me in your sources - I pinned the info graphic on vet techs since my daughter is a a newly licensed vet tech (2013). She also manages the office which seems to lean heavily on the angry client/coworker thing. I'd like for her to only vet tech because she loves it but she says she needs the extra salary she gets for the extra manager gig. Is it really ok to pin from other blogs or do you ask for permission first? I looked at your site and love it but don't want to upset my blogger friends so how do you work that part?

    1. If you are a blogger, one of your goals should be to have pin-friendly images that make people want to share them on Pinterest. If someone doesn't want their images pinned, then they need to add some sort of block to their website. I have a "pin it" button on my browser bar and I use it all of the time. Actually using an image on your website is different and you should always ask permission.

Managing as a vet tech is hard. I would have liked to do it, but I am sure it would have been hard for me because I hate controversy and confronting people sometimes.

  17. We love Pinterest too and it can be a real time burner! Right now we mostly used to pin things we like from other blogs and to pin our own blogs, its a great media for that. I agree with above, we have to prioritize our social media outlets. I committed to 4 last year, but I need to do more on Pinterest though. Love Dolly

    1. Yea, if you sit on Pinterest, you can get stuck there forever! I will admit that most of my pinning is directly from other blogs or my own blog and not from Pinterest. Otherwise, I would waste much of my time there!

    1. Same here. I mostly just use my pin it button and pin things directly from blogs. That way, I don't spend too much time over there and I am still helping spread the word about everyone's awesome content!
