Pawsome Pet of the Week - Gambler the Chesapeake Bay Retriever

Today, we have a very handsome Pawsome Pet of the Week to share with you all. His full registered name with all of his titles is USJ HR U-GRCH Sand Spring Ev'ry Paw's A Winner SH (what a mouthful!), but you can just call him Gambler for short. Other nicknames Gambler goes by include G$, Gman, Giblet, and Gibler. Gambler is a 4 year old male Chesapeake Bay Retriever stud dog and his birthday is coming up soon on May 13th. Gambler lives on a little hobby farm with his family in Cambria, Wisconsin with lots of birds to chase.

Gambler has a lot of fancy titles, jobs, and special abilities. It's obvious that he is deserving of one other title - Pawsome Pet of the Week. But I wanted to know why he believes he is so Pawsome, so I asked and here is what he had to say -

"I'm a pawsome pet because I'm the result of my mom breeding her foundation stud and soulmate, Norman. She wanted a Norman son and she got it with me. I make my mom smile and pull her hair out each and every day. At the end of the day after all my mischief I curl up in a ball right next to her head each night and go to sleep."

I was curious - how can such a sweet and innocent looking dog cause so much mischief? Well, it seems like he's so good at it, it's almost like magic! Here are some of his special abilities he has listed on his resume.
"I can karate kick the bi fold closet doors open, pull mom's jackets off the hangers bring them into the living room, pull the chapstick out and eat it. I can also open up my wire crate door and squeeze out of a 3 inch opening. I'm like Houdini."
When Gambler isn't busy pulling off Houdini tricks, he enjoys chasing pheasants. He is "fast, oh so fast and can catch them on the fly". After he catches his pheasant he runs around to show off his prize for all to see.

Gambler also enjoys eating fine cuisine. His favorite treats are Jones Natural Chews bones - all of them! He also loves baked goods that are intended for human consumption and claims that he will "jump on the counter and eat them when his mom leaves the room".

Not only does Gambler have excellent culinary taste and exceptional ninja-like counter surfing skills, but he says that he is also able to talk.
"My favorite thing about myself is that I can talk. When my dad comes home, I run around on top of the couch and roo at him. Sometimes when I'm in trouble he takes his hat off and I immediately squint my eyes and roo really loud at him. He then laughs at me and forgets to swat me."
Great distraction technique, Gambler! But life is not just all about fun and games for Gambler. He works hard and lives up to his name. Just check out all of these accomplishments...
"I have several UKC and AKC titles. I have my UKC United Senior Jumper title where my longest jump was 18.3 ft, that was after only three jumps at the UKC premier in 2013. I have my UKC Hunting Retriever title and am working on my Hunting Retriever Champion title. These are hunting titles to prove I have what it takes to be a hunter. I have my UKC Grand Champion Conformation title. I was the top Chesapeake for two years in a row in the UKC Top Ten Dog And Breed Standings. I also have my AKC Senior Hunter title, Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog Novice title along with my American Temperament title. Each week I do therapy work by visiting a elementary school and spending time with children with Emotional Behavior Disorders. I love my job!"

I don't have many words for Gambler other than WOW. Gambler's one pawsome pet and he should be proud of all his accomplishments at such a young age.

You can find Gambler at his blog, Sand Spring Chesapeakes. He also has his own Facebook page, Twitter account, and is on Instagram. Be sure to stop by, say hello, and make a new friend!

And stop by next Friday here at Pawsitively Pets for a new Pawsome Pet of the Week!
