Which Style of Cat Will You Choose for Adopt a Cat Month?

June is Adopt a Cat Month and for the past few years, I've posted about it. Highlighting the reasons why cats make great pets and I even featured feral cats once. This year, I decided to have a little fun with Adopt a Cat Month while featuring adoptable cats at the same time.

Since we all know that cats are magnificent creatures that would make a valuable addition to any home, I think this leads us to only one question that needs to be asked: Which style of cat are you going to adopt? Cats come in a variety of colors and patterns, all suited to complement your own unique style, personality, and home! Which one best suits you?

Striped Cats (aka The Tabby Cat)

Mama is available for adoption in Seattle, WA

According to Glamour, stripes are "big for 2015". Don't worry about your striped cat going out of fashion though. Stripes are "also so classic that we plan on keeping the look in rotation forever".  As it should be since striped cats are totally amazing. Plus, the Tabby Cat comes in almost any color imaginable.

Tuxedo Cats

Mother Goose is available for adoption in San Francisco, CA

Tuxedo Cats are characterized by having a white chest and belly, accompanied by another color on the rest of their body. Most people might think of the black and white Tuxedo cat, but they come in other colors like grey or even calico! With naturally occurring formal attire, the Tuxedo Cat is prepared for any fancy event that comes their way. (Or even just cuddling on the couch.)

Orange Cats

Stretch is available for adoption in Dripping Springs, TX

You know what they say - "orange is the new black" - whatever that means. Adopting an orange cat will add more color to your home and definitely brighten your day, every day.

Calico Cats

Candy is available for adoption in Austin, TX

Calico Cats and Tortoiseshell Cats can often be characterized as having an "attitude". Personally, I just think they are confident and know what they want out of life. Are you having a hard time with your personal confidence? Adopt a Calico Cat to be your life coach and they will guide you to new levels of dignity and self-respect!

Colorpoint Cats

Callaway is available for adoption in Austin, TX

The Colorpoint Cat is cousin to the Siamese, and can come in 16 different colors. Wow! (Siamese also have point colors, but only 4 colors.) Cats with colorpoints are elegant and chic. With their cutting-edge style, they will make a unique (and cute) addition to your home.

Silver Cats

Mystic is available for adoption in Orlando, FL

Nothing can dazzle like the shimmering coat of silver grey kitty cat. With sparkling eyes to match their luscious cats, silver goes with everything. Including you! Add some twinkle to your life with a silver cat for Adopt a Cat Month.

White Cats

Snow Winterfell is available for adoption in New York, NY

I know what you're thinking - white gets dirty too easy! I'm happy to say that is not the case with white cats. White cats (and mostly all cats, really) are fastidious at cleaning their perfect white fur, leaving them looking flawless. Plus, white goes with everything and will give your home a lovely feeling of freshness!

Black Cats

Lucy is available for adoption in Phoenix, AZ

Often mistaken for being bad luck, black cats are actually quite the opposite. In fact, black cats are considered extremely lucky in some Asian cultures. If you're down on your luck lately, try adding a black cat to your life. You won't regret it! Black is a mysterious, classic, AND slimming color.

The truth is, there are so many cats available for adoption at your local shelter or rescue right now that you should have no problems finding one that is adorable, unique, and most importantly, lovable. No matter which type of cat you choose, remember that cats are in style! And the one thing that never goes out of style is a cat's love for their human. If any of the cats in this post strike your fancy, they are all available for adoption. (Just click the link under their photos to visit their Petfinder profiles.)

  8. It is so hard to say! Though I did not intentionally choose it this way, it would seem that I am a huge fan of striped cats. I guess I will go with striped cats as my answer! MOL

    1. Haha - I'm the same way. I never really "choose" a cat based on the way they look. And besides, they've all just kind of chosen me anyways.

  9. If Mom ever gets more cats, she will probably look for calicos as she has had most of the other ones.

  10. We would love to have one of each, but we would need a bigger house and more litter boxes.

  11. We love them all! And we have to say how wonderful it is to see you feature "regular" (of course beautiful too!) cats. We received a few emails from different PR companies asking us to post about favorite cat breeds, featuring all pure bred cats. It's really refreshing to see something not focused on breeds, but rather on all cats with their beautiful colors/markings and their charming attributes.

    1. I was never very knowledgeable about all the different cat breeds until I became a Veterinary Technician and learned more about them over the years. I do like your regular old DSH cats :) They are nice.

  12. What a cute article! Our two dogs would go crazy if we were to adopt a cat. That being said, if we could adopt a cat, we would probably choose a black cat since they can often be more difficult to adopt out.

  14. Some day I'd love to have an orange tabby with little white paws (mittens), but that won't be for a while since Luna doesn't always play nice with cats.

  15. When I was a little kid my favorite relative had a super friendly and loving orange cat with a long fluffy tail. He had the greatest name: Mr. Buff. I'd love to have another Mr. Buff in my life, but I don't see us getting another cat any time soon!

  16. We have a lovely black cat, so I was ready to choose a cat of a different color . . .but I have to say I fell in love with, you guessed it, Lucy, the coquettish little black one. At least I'm consistent :)

  17. I've always had a love of the black cat. I had one as a child, he was so sweet and loving. That's my memory of cats.

  18. So cute! My favorites are the tabbies for one reason and that's because I have two tabbies! :) One gray/black tabby and one tan tabby. He's almost orange but more of a tan color. And I love the black/tuxedo cats too because they remind me of my first foster kitty who my parents ended up adopting. She's an awesome, friendly little cat.

I would love to adopt another, but we're pretty much maxed out at 2 cats for now.
