Pets or Kids - Who Makes the Biggest Mess? #CarpetStainCulprits

Pets or kids - who makes the biggest mess? If you have both pets and kids, this is a pretty tough question. Both of them know how to make a good mess.

Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover has my back no matter who makes the mess. It instantly eliminates the toughest stains and odors like coffee, spaghetti sauce, grease and oil, marker, wine, and numerous pet stains. Specially formulated to get out the worst of stains while still being gentle on your carpet. All Spot Shot products are formulated with powerful cleaning agents that can even remove tough old carpet stains.

Sometimes, said stains can be a bit stinky (especially if they are made by a pet). Fortunately, Spot Shot also contains neutralizers to eliminate even the worst of odors and leave a light, clean fragrance behind.

So who is the biggest Carpet Stain Culprit in my house? Pets or kids? It took me a while to decide, but here's what I have to work with.

The Pet Messes

Roadside, the maniac kitten.

At this point in time, I have 3 pets and one other who visits my house quite frequently. Cats and dogs. The cats are fairly clean and easy on my carpets. I do have to watch my kitten though. He is a maniac and will knock cups of liquid or plates of food onto the carpet.

I've also caught him urinating on the carpet once. He's still young and learning, but takes care of his business properly most of the time. Callie is very clean. Aside from the very rare hacking up of a hairball on the floor.

"Oops! Did I do that?"

My dog tends to be the messiest of the pets. If it's muddy outside, she's liable to track it inside on the carpet. Even at 13 years old, she still finds pleasure at occasionally digging in the trash and going through it on my carpet. And because she is a senior dog, I've noticed she does have more potty accidents than she used to.

The Kid Messes

I have a 4 year old and an 11 year old. While they both look nice and clean in the picture above, that's not always the case. (Anyone that tells you little girls are not as messy as little boys is a liar.)

The messiest kid is probably my youngest. Just now as I'm typing this blog post, I turned my head and found that the wall has now been beautifully finger painted a lovely teal color. Paint and marker stains often find their way to the floor from both of the kids.

Marker is messy...

They also have accidents, usually in the form of a drink spill. Sometimes food gets dropped too. Shiner tries to help clean it up, but in the end I usually need a carpet cleaner for that.

One thing my youngest does that drives me crazy is let her "goo" dry up in the carpet. That stuff is not easy to get out. If you're a parent you probably know what this stuff is. It's also called "flarp" or "ooze". Spot Shot does help with the goo removing process, thankfully.

Who Makes the Biggest Mess?

So who makes the biggest mess around here? In my opinion, it's the kids! It's a very close call, but the kids' messes are more frequent than the pets'. (Don't worry I still love both of them.)

We've been using Spot Shot Pet Instant Carpet Stain Remover here a lot recently. It works well, is easy to use, and does help with odors that can be left behind with pet urine. Something I really need lately. Spot Shot also helps prevent stains from returning which is a handy feature.
