Growing With My Kitten #PurinaProPlanWetFood

Compensation was provided for this post by Purina Pro Plan.

It's been just over a month now since little Roadside found his way to my house. It feels like he's been around longer, however. During his time here, I've really gotten to know him and his character has begun to shine through remarkably.

There have been a couple of challenges with keeping Roadside around too. I am happy to report that most of these challenges have become a non-issue now. The challenges I speak of are making sure that the other pets and Roadside get along with each other . I have to make sure he stays safe, after all. Roadside plays with my dog, Shiner, and she doesn't mind him at all. (I'm very proud of Shiner for this!)

My older cat, Callie, is much less angry about him being around, but still puts up a small fuss from time to time. Her complaining is valid, however. He does terrorize her a little bit but he just wants to play with her.

At first, Roadside was very quiet and gentle. He would just sit in my lap and purr away. He didn't play much. Now, I can't stop him from running around like a little maniac. He is constantly playing, running from one end of the house to the next. Jumping on and off the couches and beds as fast as possible. He lunges out from under the bed to attack my feet as I walk by. He's a real character!

As crazy as he might be most of the time, he also is truly very sweet. He jumps up in my lap to sit quietly while he purrs. Just this week, he's started rubbing his head on me. Or he'll curl up in the laundry basket for a nap after he finally wears himself out.

Roadside's favorite time of day is meal time. He's a little food hound and is always looking for a bite to eat. I'd be hungry too if I ran around as much as he does!

While Roadside does not seem to be a picky eater, I still want to make sure he is eating food that meets his nutritional needs as a kitten. I like to include wet food in my cats' diets because hydration is important for cats. Wet cat food can also help support a healthy immune system.

In nature, cats get most of their hydration from the food they eat. Offering wet cat food can be an excellent way to maintain a cat's hydration. I thought it would be a good idea to introduce Roadside to wet cat food as early as I could so that he could become used to it.

Wet cat food is not just a treat that cats like to eat. Roadside has enjoyed his Purina Pro Plan wet food for kittens, and I am happy that he is getting the extraordinary nutrition he needs to grow into a healthy adult. Since Purina Pro Plan is backed by a team of over 400 scientists - including veterinarians, nutritionists and behaviorists - I know it's a food I can trust. And apparently, it must taste phenomenal as well. He loves the taste!

I went shopping at PetSmart and found that the selection of Purina Pro Plan wet cat food was quite extensive!  Many offerings include complements of pasta, vegetables, rice, or cheese. It was hard to pick out flavors because everything looked tasty. Callie is my picky cat, so I like having lots of wet cat food options for her. She also loves her Purina Pro Plan wet cat food.

All of Purina Pro Plan's wet cat foods are high in protein and feature real poultry, fish, or meat and are proudly manufactured at Purina-owned U.S. facilities.

If you haven't tried Purina Pro Plan wet cat food yet, they are offering a "Buy 5 Cans, Get 1 Free" coupon on their website. You can claim your coupon HERE.

I can't wait to see what a good cat Roadside grows into. Kittens grow up fast, so I'm trying to cherish his time as a kitten while I can. I've already watched him grow from a tiny, scraggly, flea-infested kitten into a healthy and energetic boy cat. I know that getting some good food in his belly has helped him immensely.

Do you feed your cats wet food? Why or why not? Tell us in the comments!

  1. Roadside sounds like a real sweetheart and lots of fun! We either eat canned food or defrosted raw food. No dry, ever, except for the occasional treat.

  2. Did you have any issues with your older cat peeing on your bed or anything like that?? We got a kitten a few years ago and our older cat was so mad. She would pee on my bed almost everyday. We had to keep her out of our room which is usually where she ends up staying all the time. My Mom came up wanting a new kitten so we ended up giving the kitten to her so it all worked out. But somedays I still wonder if she would have come around with time.

    1. No angry urination issues here. The older cat has peed in places she shouldn't in the past, but some litter box adjustments seemed to fix the problem. She is also much less angry now than she was at first. But, she has lived with a different kitten in the past at her previous home so I already knew it was possible.

  3. Roadside is just too cute! I am glad you have found a good food so he can get the nutrition and energy he needs to continue to play at full throttle!

  4. Our kitties usually eat dry food because Mom finds the wet food smelly, and messy, but they do love it when they get it.

  9. Roadside is going to grow up to be a great cat! How fun to have a kitten around you forget how entertaining they can be. It's so sweet that Shiner likes him. Mom found it really hard to get Rhette to eat wet food but now he looks for it every day at the same time. Love Dolly
