Keeping My Dog Warm in the Winter with Gold Paw Series Fleece

Shiner is one of those dogs who gets cold easily. I've caught her shivering in her sleep on several occasions during the winter. When I notice that, I know it's time to dig out her dog sweaters.

While our Central Texas winter has been mostly mild this year, we've had a few occasions where the temperatures got down pretty low (for us). And of course, the weather here can never seem to make up its mind. You can be sweating in 80 degree weather one moment and freezing in the 30's the next.

Shiner has a few sweaters and dog shirts. To be honest, I don't often come across dog clothing in the stores that will actually fit her comfortably. Some of the sweaters she has now fit her snugly and don't leave too much room to breath, if you will.

We recently discovered Gold Paw Series Stretch Fleece and decided to give it a try. Shiner selected a beautiful Fuchsia colored Fleece. When it arrived, I was amazed by how soft it is. It feels like velvet!

The Gold Paw Series Fleece is super stretchy, which I absolutely love. Perfect for dogs who are active and for dogs who are lounging around the house. It's important to stay comfortable after all, right?

Checking on our winter vegetables.

It's also extremely lightweight making it easy to pack along for trips. Or if you live in Texas and the weather suddenly changes (hey, it's possible here), you can easily put it on or take it off your dog and stick it in your purse or backpack. It's not a bulky item.

Shiner has been wearing her fuchsia Gold Paw Series Fleece when it's chilly outside and I haven't noticed her feeling too cold. Sometimes if it's very cold outdoors, she won't want to be outside for long. She just wants to do her business and rush back in the house. It seems like she's happier to be outdoors longer with her Fleece on though.

Because the material of the Gold Paw Series Stretch Fleece is super stretchy, many dogs do well with a size smaller than their regular size. I do believe Shiner could have gone down a size but I still think it fits well. Just something to keep in mind if you order one for your dog!

Speaking of which, you can browse Gold Paw Series' website for their Fleece and other clothing products for your dog HERE. Oh and by the way - they also sell Stretch Fleece for cats! If you have an outdoorsy adventure cat or a hairless cat, I think these would be purrfect for them.

If you're looking for a way to keep your dog warm in the winter, we highly recommend checking out Gold Paw Series. Both fashionable with many colors and patterns available and functional, your dog will thank you!

  2. I'm sure that is warm and toasty and it looks nice. We have enough fur to keep us warm, so we don't need anything else.

  3. I need to get one of these for my niece's dog. I attempted to crochet one for her, but I somehow messed it up.

  4. We LOVE Gold Paw its by far the best cold weather gear for my hard to fit body. I'll even tolerate wearing it and I hate everything. We have a reversible one, purple one side for Taffy, camel the other side for me! Shiner, you are adorable in that pink! Love Dolly

  7. Collies are a double coated breed, so they shouldn't need sweaters or jackets in the winter...
But one of our collies, Kori, gets cold. I've seen here shivering in her sleep too, and unlike the others, she seems to enjoy wearing sweaters. I will have to check these out, thanks!
