Will You Feed Raw In 2017? #RawFeedingResolution

This post is sponsored by Stella & Chewy's. Pawsitively Pets is a brand ambassador for Stella & Chewy's, but we only share information we feel is relevant to our readers.

It was a little over a year ago that I introduced raw food to our dog, Shiner. Since then, I have continued to incorporate raw into her diet. Mostly in the form of freeze-dried raw dog food, but I have also tried some frozen and fresh meats along the way. Even the cats have tried raw pet food.

The main reason I wanted to try a raw diet with my dog was because it just makes sense. Dogs like to eat meat, and feeding raw seemed like a great way for them to get the most of their meals. Many of my friends feed a raw diet and only had good things to say about it.

Here are a few benefits of feeding a raw diet:

  • Improved appetite and digestion
  • Relief from allergies
  • Healthy skin and coat
  • Healthy teeth
  • Healthy immune system

However, I had many concerns about feeding a raw diet to my dog. My main concern was that I was going to do something wrong and my dog would not get the nutrients she needs from her diet to stay healthy. This is why I feed freeze-dried raw dog food. It's easy to prepare and formulated to meet my dog's dietary needs.

Shiner eats Stella & Chewy's Freeze-Dried Patties. I prepare her meals by breaking the patties into smaller pieces and adding warm water to re-hydrate them. After waiting a few minutes, her food is ready to eat and she digs right in!

If you aren't ready to feed an exclusively raw diet just yet, that's OK! You can ease your way into it by adding Stella & Chewy's Meal Mixers to your dog's regular food. It's a good place to start for those not ready to take the full plunge just yet. You can learn more about Stella & Chewy's Meal Mixers SuperBlends in our last blog post.

For 2017, I hope to continue incorporating Stella & Chewy's raw pet food into Shiner's diet. I also want to try and get my cats to eat more raw food. They especially love love Stella & Chewy's Chick Chick Chicken Dinner Morsels.

Stella & Chewy's would like to invite you to make a New Year's Resolution for your pet with a #RawFeedingResolution giveaway on Instagram!

For those who feed or have tried raw feeding before, share what you love most about it and encourage others to give it a try.

For those who have yet to try raw food, share what has you most interested in trying a raw diet or what your questions/concerns are.

Post your picture on Instagram and include the hashtags #RawFeedingResolution and #StellaandChewys. Follow @StellaandChewys on Instagram too! Stella & Chewy's will choose a few people from both groups and give them a bag of their food. The giveaway ends on January 31, 2016 at 11:59 PM CST.

  3. We eat part time raw (yes, we still have canned wet food too), and we love it. Claire was afraid of making a mistake, and she took tons of advice before getting started. She loves to know what we eat, and what we need. Purrs

  4. I like that I'm feeding my obligate carnivores meat. I like that their breath doesn't stink of cat food, I like that they are healthier because of it, I like knowing what is in my cat's food without having to guess what they meant when reading an ingredient label and I like that my cat's poop doesn't stink!
