Training to Be an Adventure Cat | Adventure Cats Book Giveaway

Does your cat prefer the adventurous lifestyle? Going on hikes and big adventures isn't just for the dogs anymore. Since I've started working in the pet world, I've noticed a huge growth in the popularity of cat owners bringing their cats along on adventures.

I've followed Adventure Cats on Instagram for some time and am in love with all the cats there .I admire the fun they have. AdventureCats.org was created by a group of outdoorsy cat lovers for people looking for safe ways to explore the great outdoors with their cats. They also want to challenge negative stereotypes about cats and the people who love them in order to increase shelter cat adoptions.

Laura Moss is the Editor-in-Chief and Co-Founder of the Adventure Cats website. Just last month her book, Adventure Cats: Living Nine Lives to the Fullest, was published.

What is an Adventure Cat?

Ever since I got my paws on a copy of Adventure Cats, some kitty around the house has been having big dreams of going on a mighty adventure. So far, Roadside's adventures have only been supervised visits to the porch. He's expressed a lot of interest in getting outside to explore more though.

An adventure cat is a cat that likes to go on adventures (of course) such as hiking, camping, sailing, and more. The book features several adventure cats and tells the tale of their travels accompanied by gorgeous photographs.

For example, there are cats featured in Adventure Cats that climb mountains, go surfing, trek through snow, go camping, and more. Not only is Adventure Cats filled with amazing stories of cats, but it is packed full of valuable information.

What Does It Take to Be an Adventure Cat?

Adventure Cats if filled with information on how to determine whether or not the adventure life is right for your cat. There's even a quiz to help you decide if your cat might like that kind of lifestyle. The adventurous lifestyle isn't for every cat, but I find the quiz in the book helpful.

I've determined that Roadside may enjoy it, but he's still a bit shy around new people. Adventure Cats will definitely be a good tool when I decide to pursue a leash and harness with him.

The book offers advice on everything from leash and clicker training to feline first aid to boating with a cat on board. It's a very thorough book and I'm quite impressed with the vast amount of knowledge it provides to cat lovers who may want to have an adventure with their kitty.

I've enjoyed each part of Adventure Cats that I've read so far. Even if you have no plans of climbing a mountain with your cat, the stories of the cats in the book are still charming and highly enjoyable to read.

  1. I love the adventure cats! I could probably be one, except I have an indoors human. So my adventures all involve flying to cities and staying in hotels and stuff.

  3. The old man was an adventure cat before he went to the Bridge at 16. Us younger kitties are all to afraid to go outside. Mom and Dad wished we weren't so afraid they like going canoeing and camping.

  10. This is such a good idea. This would be such a great experience for them, especially considering so many cats spend their lives just laying on the sofa.
