September PetBox Giveaway

Each month, Shiner receives a PetBox to bark about as part of her PetBox Spokesdoggy contract. She also has the opportunity to give away one free PetBox (for dogs or cats) to one lucky Pawsitively Pets reader. Her favorite time of the month is when her PetBox arrives in the mail.

For those unaware of what PetBox is, they are a monthly subscription box filled with goodies like food, treats, toys, grooming products, and more for your pet. PetBox offers several different subscription plans no matter what your budget is like. PetBox subscription plans range in price from $9.95 to $59.95.

Our September PetBox contained lots of interesting pet products. Shiner has already tried a few of them out and is pleased. Here's a peek at what we received in our September PetBox.

Achieving Serenity with Chicken Jerky Dog Treats | Spot Farms Giveaway

This post is sponsored by Spot Farms. I received free products and am being compensated for helping spread the word about Spot Farms, but Pawsitively Pets only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. All opinions stated here are our own. Spot Farms is not responsible for the content of this article.

If your dog is anything like mine, that means they love their meat. Shiner isn't discriminatory against her meats. She'll eat just about any kind of meat, but one of the treats that she really loves is chicken jerky.

Of course, this means I have to be careful when choosing chicken jerky dog treats for her to eat. Not all chicken jerky dog treats are created equal, after all. That's why I was happy to recently be introduced to Spot Farms dog treats. The list of dog treats Spot Farms offers is long and they take pride in bringing dogs tasty treats that are made in the USA with human grade, all natural ingredients.

You Pet's Health Is About Having Fun Too #GetHealthyHappy

During our time helping to promote the "Healthier Pets, Happier Lives" Campaign with Hill's Science Diet, we've already share some important tips to have healthy, happy pets. Keeping your pet healthy includes visiting the veterinarian regularly and choosing a healthy diet. Keeping your pet's body healthy and nourished is pretty important, but what about their mental state?

You can keep your pet's body in tip-top shape, but what good is that if they never have any fun? That's where the little extras come in. There are lots of ways to show your pet you care about them and keep them happy. Don't just get healthy, get happy too and be sure to have some fun everyday!

Dog Walking Made Easy with Pleash

Our walks with Shiner typically go pretty well. Sometimes, she might get distracted by a bunny or some other critter that she has to attempt to chase after or just stare intently at for a few minutes. I usually don't take many photos for our walks because my phone is just one more thing to carry. I like walking my dog hands free for my own comfort and her safety too.

Can I Pleash go chase that rabbit now?

Recently, I discovered a new product that is meant to make dog walking easier. It's called a Pleash. The idea behind the Pleash is that it's a purse and leash combined into one. I love the name, by the way. Miss Lynn from Pleash asked Shiner and I if we'd like to review a Pleash at Pawsitively Pets (and have a giveaway!) so we accepted the offer. I've been looking for a simple yet sturdy leash, and I think I've found it. Not to mention the added bonus of the purse-like pouch that it comes with.

The Perfect Fitting Dog Harness | My Canine Kids Precision Fit Harness

Trying to properly put a harness on a dog always confuses me so much. Maybe it's just me, but for years I had the hardest time trying to correctly put on patients' harnesses when it was time for them to go home from the vet clinic. Actually, I don't think it was just me because it usually took two of us to figure it out.

I know that for many dog parents, finding a dog harness that fits perfectly can be difficult. Shiner has a somewhat deep chest, so we come across this problem sometimes. Plus, the harness has to be comfortable for the dog too.

We were recently asked to test out a Precision Fit Harness from My Canine Kids, Inc. The Precision Fit Harness is meant to be easily adjustable to your dog's shape and size. It's pretty darn stylish too and comes in a variety of different colors. Shiner picked out a pink harness, of course.

Rockin' Paws Dog Grooming Products Giveaway

As you may remember, Shiner had a spa day last weekend. She was less than thrilled with the whole experience, but that's nothing new. She just doesn't like to take baths very much. However, I enjoyed our spa day because we got to use new grooming products made by Rockin' Paws.

Well, today we are very excited to share a giveaway for a few Rockin' Paws products with our readers! (I know, your dogs probably hate me right now.) Did you miss our review of Rockin' Paws earlier this week? If so, just click here to read it.

Rockin' Paws was created by a dog mom named Judy. She was looking for some time-saving styling products that worked for her two dogs, Monte and Pete. So she created a full line of dog grooming products - Rockin' Paws. To learn more about Rockin' Paws, you can visit their website here.

Keeping a Puppy Friendly Home With the Puppy Crib

Puppies. They can be a handful! If you're anything like me, you'd probably want to spoil your puppy with a million dog beds and toys and other cool puppy stuff. Truth is, all of this stuff takes up space in your home. Plus, puppies are messy sometimes so it's likely that their toys get tossed around all over the house.

I mean, Shiner isn't even a puppy and I still have dog toys all over the living room. And then there are the dog beds... Some can be large and take up a lot of space within your home. But you can't help wanting to make your puppy as comfortable as possible. They are our furry kids after all.

That brings me to a cool new product that I was recently introduced to - the Puppy Crib. It's a pet bed designed for puppies. The Puppy Crib is meant to be a comfortable bed that makes your puppy feel secure while saving valuable space in your home. It's a hammock style pet bed that easily attaches underneath a chair or end table.

Dumb Reasons Why People Don't #ScoopThatPoop

Each month, we join Sugar the Golden Retriever and Oz the Terrier for the #ScoopThatPoop campaign. Our mission is simple - to encourage dog owners to be responsible and pick up after their canine companions.

There are lots of GOOD reasons why you should pick up your dog's poop and not very many good reasons why you shouldn't. If you aren't aware of the hazards and health risks of dog poop, here's just a few:

July #PetBox Review and Giveaway

As an official PetBox Spokesdoggy, Shiner receives a PetBox each month so that she can test out all the fun products inside and tell our readers about them. She also gets to give away one free month of PetBox to a lucky reader!

As some of you may have read yesterday, it has been very rainy and cloudy here lately. We decided to open our July PetBox on a rainy day for fun. This month's PetBox includes a nice variety of products including treats, a dog tag, cleaning supplies, grooming supplies, and a dog toy.

Ways to Encourage Your Pet to Drink More Water

Dehydration means your body does not have as many water or fluids as it should. During the Summer months, it's especially important to keep our furry friends hydrated. You should always leave plenty of fresh clean water accessible to your pet so they can have a cool drink whenever they want.

Sometimes, dogs and cats don't want to drink water like they should. I'm the same way. I know it's good for me, but I just don't want to drink it sometimes. Here's a few things you can try with your pets to make sure they stay hydrated and encourage them to drink more water:

CANIDAE® Natural Gourmet Dog Treats | Review and Giveaway

I like giving my dog treats, and she of course enjoys eating them. What do I look for in dog treats? I like dog treats that have healthy ingredients, are made in the USA, and of course the dog has to think they taste good too.

I was recently asked to try some natural gourmet dog treats made by CANIDAE® Natural Pet Food Company. CANIDAE makes all of their treats to the standards listed above, so I said yes. I decided that maybe it was time to branch out and contact a new treat taste tester for this review. Shiner is an excellent treat taste tester, but what about other dogs? Would they like these treats?

I contacted my grandparents' Shetland Sheepdog, Bear, to see what his availability as a treat taste tester was and his schedule was completely open. What dog would turn down an opportunity like this?

Help Your Senior Pet Thrive With Revitamal #AntiAgingPets

Our dog, Shiner is 11 years old which makes her a senior pet. As pets age, they can sometimes experience health issues like aches and pains associated with arthritis and other age-related chronic illnesses. No one likes to think about their pet growing old or getting sick, but it's something we should all be ready to deal with. And wouldn't you love to prolong the amount of time you have to spend with them?

For the past two weeks, Shiner has been taking Revitamal which is an anti-aging supplement for pets. Revitamal starts working immediately to restore your pet's functions, comfort, energy level, and vitality. This supplement is like a fountain of youth for pets in a bottle.

Revitamal #AntiAgingPets Supplement Review and Giveaway

What really grabbed my attention with Revitamal is that it can be used for all pets of all ages, except for fish. I love small pets, and my rat recently passed away back in April. I can't wait to use Revitamal anti-aging supplement for my next pet rats. Their life expectancy is only about 2 years or so and I would love to extend that short period of time if possible.

An Extra Paw to Help Hold the Doody | #ScoopThatPoop Giveaway

Once a month, we join our friends Sugar the Golden Retriever and Oz the Terrier in the #ScoopThatPoop campaign and blog hop. We want to raise awareness that scooping your dog's poop is an important and necessary job. Don't just leave it laying on the ground for others to step in!

Oz, Sugar, and Shiner - Scooper Heroes!

If you don't feel like carrying your dog's stinky poop around during your walks, don't worry there is help for you. The Fifth Paw is "an extra paw to help hold the doody" while you are out on walks with your dog. The Fifth Paw is a small contraption that conveniently attaches to your leash. When your dog does their business, you just pick it up in a poop bag and attach the bag to your Fifth Paw. And voila! You are officially hands free. We got our Fifth Paw in our April PetBox.

Dental Disease in Pets is a Growing Epidemic

Current statistics estimate that a whopping 95% of pets will have dental disease that requires correction during some point in their lifetime. Wouldn't you like for your pet to be in that 5%? According to the AVMA, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats will have some form of dental disease by the age of 3. These numbers are proof that proper dental care for pets is important at an early age. Senior pets are not the only ones who can get dental disease.

Dental care for pets is really important and taking care of their teeth is a lot like taking care of your own human teeth. There are a lot of simple things you can try at home with your dog or cat to ensure that they have healthy teeth and gums throughout their lifetime. The Seafood Diet

Shiner says she's on a special diet right now. It's called the "seafood" diet.

Yep, I'd have to say this is a true statement! She's highly devoted to eating any food in sight.

Technically, she is eating an actual seafood diet too - Merrick's Grain Free Real Salmon and Sweet Potato dry formula. If you haven't joined our giveaway to win a year's supply of your choice of Merrick dog food yet, just click here to enter

Pets Need Dental Care Too | Ultrasound Technology with the Emmi-pet

Do you brush you pets' teeth? Just like us humans, pets need to have their teeth brushed on a regular basis. Dental disease is bad news and can cause health problems like heart disease, kidney disease, and even mouth pain among other things. All the bacteria in your pet's mouth gets flushed through the organs in their body. Brushing your pet's teeth helps keep bacteria levels down and prevents dental disease.

For the past month our dog, Shiner, has been having her teeth brushed with the Emmi-pet Ultrasound Toothbrush. It's a pretty fancy pet toothbrush with some cool technology. It's not just your regular old pet toothbrush, it has ultrasound technology and actually requires no brushing movements by you.

At first, I was apprehensive to try the Emmi-pet because I thought it was going to vibrate. We've tried a vibrating toothbrush in the past and Shiner wasn't a fan. I was assured that this toothbrush does not vibrate, and it doesn't.
