Meet Baby Frosty and Honey Delite

Recently, I talked about my father wanting me to find some cats as mousers for his barn. I called our local shelter and learned that they have a barn cat program. They offer spayed/neutered and vaccinated feral cats as barn cats for people who need them at no charge. The cats would otherwise be euthanized according to the shelter.

Last Wednesday, I went to pick up two cats per my father's request. He owns a nursery and garden center called Snooper's. The barn here serves as his tool shed and check out area for his customers. Ever since Kitty Kitty Meow Meow passed away, mice have been running around like crazy around here. We also have a lot of rabbits, which I guess are not so great for a nursery business either.

Saturday Photohunt: Pretty in Pink

Today's photohunt word is "monochrome" (VBP). I had to look up the exact definition for this one. According to the dictionary, it means the following:
"A painting, drawing, or photograph in a single hue."
The hue (VBP) that I selected for my photo is PINK! Doesn't Nibblet look so pretty in pink? She likes to think so anyways.

In case you haven't met Nibblet yet, she is my pet rat. Yep, that's right - I have a pet rat. Isn't she just crackerjack? (VBP)

Saturday Photohunt: A Steel-y Coat

My picture for today's Saturday Photohunt features my favorite doggy patient of all time - Shadow. Shadow is a pit bull doggy with the most felicitous (VBP) personality. She brought a smile to my face every time I saw her.

Today's word for the photohunt is "Steel". Shadow's sleek and steely (VBP) coat is one of pulchritude (VBP). I sure do miss this pup! Hopefully, I can meet her again one day.

Calico Cat Trivia

Photo via Ashley Bayles

The definition of a calico cat is a feline that has a predominately (VBP) white coat with patches of two other colors - usually orange tabby and black. Calico isn't a breed of cat, but instead a type of color variation for a cat's coat. Calico cats are very interesting and you'll never find two exactly alike.

Crazy for Catnip

Ever wondered if big cats like lions and tigers enjoy catnip like many domesticated house cats do? I think you'll find the answer to that question in this video! They seem to relish (VBP) the catnip toys given to them. Watch for yourself.

Here are some interesting facts about catnip:

Saturday Photohunt: Daub

When I saw the word for today's photohunt, I knew it was perfect for the VBP Blog Hop. Today's photohunt word is daub (VBP). In today's photo, Shiner has daubed (VBP) herself with a little mud. Some of you may have read the story of her run-in with Mr. Skunk. This picture was taken after her first de-skunking bath. After a bitter diatribe (VBP) from me, we headed to the bathroom again for yet another bath... I think she's giving me the stink-eye because she's aware of the impending (VBP) second bath.

Saturday Photohunt: Knitted

Today's photohunt word is "knitted". I don't really know how to knit and can't think of anything that I own that was knitted, so I unfortunately cannot share a photo that I took myself. But, this word did make me think of something I saw while browsing some blogs the other day. I pinned it to my Guinea Pig board on Pinterest since it's cute.

I was at The Doggie Stylish Blog and saw this DIY Pattern to knit a sweater for your guinea pig. I'm not sure  how many guinea pigs like the idea of wearing a garish (VBP) sweater. I'm sure guinea pigs everywhere are ready to trounce (VBP) their owners for even thinking of taking up knitting.

Saturday Photohunt: Minuscule Lizard

One of the definitions of the word "minuscule" (yes, this is proper spelling according to the dictionary) is "very small". These minuscule (VBP) lizards live all around my house. They are called anoles and can change colors from green to brown. I guess this one decided he wanted to be brown for the moment.
