Our First Pet Vines

Ever since Vine came out, I wanted to join. However, my old phone was "too old" for Vine and Instagram video so I just had to sit back and enjoy everyone else's Vines. Since I got my new phone for Christmas, I guess I'm more up to date now and was able to create my own Vine account.

I'm still working my way around there, but I think I've got the basics down. I haven't posted many Vines yet, but thought I'd share the few that I have created with you here. If you're not sure what Vine is, it's a social network that lets you post a short 7 second video to your followers and friends.

Here's our very first Vine of Nibblet in her house. Which by the way, you can read all about her fancy new home here in yesterday's post

And here's another very cute Vine of Nibblet perched on my shoulder while she grooms herself.

And I couldn't leave Shiner out, so here she is catching treats. She's pretty good at it too!

I sure am loving Vine! I can sit down and watch a lot of them and I have been finding it very distracting! I also can't wait to have fun creating more of these short little videos. I think it's awesome to see our pets in action.

It seems as though Vine doesn't have any sort of real website, so I can't share a link to my profile here. If you're on Vine, find us by searching for "Pawsitively Pets". You'll see Shiner's cute face as our profile picture. I've followed some friends over there already, but would like to find more of you!

    1. I don't know why, but I think it is funny when a dog doesn't know how to catch food! So I make sure Shiner knows how :)

  5. Generally, I'm not a video fan. The videos take longer to watch than I could read the same content.

And then I heard about Vine. I got really excited about seeing people's quick scenes of interesting things. I loved seeing Nibblet grooming. And Shiner could show the Mets a thing or two.

The downside is that since the videos stream over and over, a website with 2 or 3 vines on it eats up a lot of bandwidth. It took a long time to get your page to load on my DSL internet connection. Now I really have to get a better ISP. :)

    1. I know what you mean Pamela! Videos are fun, if they catch my attention. But my volume doesn't work right now... I think about 2 minutes is my maximum for my attention spam on videos. But I do love short videos of others pets, it's nice to see them in action.

Hope that problem isn't too bad for others! Mine seems to be working OK, maybe a hint slower I suppose.

    1. Maybe it is too "old"... My old phone wouldn't download it because it wasn't new enough. =/

  8. Your videos are cute Ann! I was super excited when Vine first came out months ago, I joined...then I stopped using it because to me it is just another time sapper. I know everyone LOVES instagram too and I am a member there but don't use it for the same reason. I admire people who have the time, I just don't!

    1. It's definitely a time sapper Caren! LOL... but I do love it as well as Instagram. It is hard to keep up with everything sometimes.

  9. Okay Miss Ann, I just got myself onto Instagram and now you are talking Vine. BOL! I don't think I could handle another social media site at this point. But I will say, your videos are too cute. Love Nibblet on your shoulder and of course, Shiner catching those treats. (I had no trouble getting your page to load with the three videos, btw.)

  10. We just started to use instagram and vine the end of November. I think we will use both a lot when we are out and about, but now with winter, it is just too hard to maneuver things usually with three dogs on leashes and winter gloves. Vine was a bit tough to figure out, but we may get better at it in time.

  15. TW says she has enough passwords so she’s not joining Instagram or Vine even if she DID have a mobile phone. Love the first 2 videos but the Shiner one isn’t working for me. BTW, when I saw the title, I thought you were referring to Silvervine.

  21. Oh Ann, I am so glad you tried out Vine! I think it's super fine and I love your short videos. I am also loving reading all the comments..."Our Lady is so old she doesn't know what a Vine is!" LOL. Really it's quite easy!

I also love using the Lightt app for videos via the smartphone. With that one you can easily see your own videos (and those of others) on the computer after they are created. Check it out at: https://lightt.com/. It has a LOT more editing features built-in than what the Vine app has.
