A Behind the Scenes Look at My Writing Process

I was invited by Janet Keefe of Wag 'n Woof Pets and Misaki the Malamute of The Misadventures of Misaki to join a virtual blog tour where bloggers share their writing process. I am flattered that these two awesome bloggers both thought of me and sent me an invitation to join in. Want a behind the scenes look at my writing process? Keep reading!

First, let me talk about the bloggers who invited me. If you've never heard of them of visited either of their blogs before you really need to stop by and check them out! (I'm not just saying that because they invited me either! I promise they are great!)

Wag 'n Woofs Pets crew.

Janet aka "The Momz" is a pet mom to a whole crew of 3 dogs and 2 cats up in New Hampshire. At her blog, Wag 'n Woof Pets, she shares her escapades with her family pets along with some pet product reviews and giveaways. Sometimes, the pets take over the blog and share their opinions on things in their own voices. If you've never read one of Samantha the Cat's reviews, you are really missing out! Samantha is hilarious!

Misaki.

I was also invited by long time blogging friend Misaki. Misaki is a Malamute who lives in the UK with her mom and dad. They go on lots of adventures together and share their fun times on Misaki's blog - The Misadventures of Misaki. I always enjoy seeing Misaki's pretty face! She is quite the character and knows how to have a good time.

My Writing Process

Now it's on to the behind scenes look at my writing process. I have 3 questions to answer for this virtual blog tour, so here we go...

1. What am I working on?

Right now, for Pawsitively Pets I am just starting to work on a handful of product reviews. Not too much going on, but just enough to keep me busy. We just got our July PetBox in the mail yesterday so I should have a review for that up soon.

Yay! My PetBox is here!

I'm also starting a new food with Shiner called Nutrience, which I will be reviewing later on. Before that happens, you can join me during the #BlogPawsChat on Twitter July 22nd at 8-10 EST. There will be prizes!

Otherwise, I feel like I'm constantly working on cleaning my rats' cage out. They are messy little buggers!

2. Why do I write what I do?

After working as a vet tech for 5 years and leaving my job to have my 2nd daughter, I needed something to keep me busy. I really missed working! Blogging about animals and pets is a great outlet for me because they are my passion. I especially love writing about exotic pets, probably because I loved working with them so much. I try to tone down my exotic pet post frequency just a little bit because I realize that not everyone may be interested in them.

I love sharing pet products with my readers and offering them chances to win prizes in giveaways. Everyone likes a freebie every now and then!

3. How does my writing process work?

Most of the time, when I get an idea for a blog post I write it down on my calendar. I'll write the post in my head thinking of the direction I want the post to go and what kind of title I'd like to use. I'll even think about what photographs I'll use. I'm a visual person, and cannot write anything without my photos ready to go first.

Usually, I will write late at night when everyone is asleep and I can focus. Once I sit down to write something, I have to finish it up. I don't like having unfinished drafts.

Blogs I'd Like to Invite to Join!

Part of this blog tour is for me to invite 3 other bloggers to join in. I understand if you guys can't join in, but I'd still like to extend my invitation and recognize you for being wonderful bloggers.

My Rotten Dogs

The three "Rotten Dogs".

My Rotten Dogs is written by Rebekah Ward about her 3 dogs - Bruce, Faolan, and Neeko. She also has a few cats, chickens, and guinea fowl! I admittedly love reading about her chickens. Rebekah shares how she feeds a raw diet with her dogs. While I do not feed my dog a raw diet, I still find it interesting to read and learn more about it.

Stunning Keisha

Stunning Cathy Keisha.

Stunning Keisha is a blog written by ghetto cat extraordinaire, Cathy Keisha. She's a cat from the streets who likes to keep it real. Cathy Keisha constantly keeps me laughing with her attitude. I don't think I've ever found another cat blogger quite like her. She is truly a unique character!

Groovy Goldendoodles

Groovy Goldendoodles.

Groovy Goldendoodles is a blog written by Cathy Bennett and her Doodle boy, Harley. These dogs are just giant lovey cuddle bugs! Cathy shares her escapades with dogs, attends fun events, does product reviews, and very often has something inspirational to say.

Now, if you've never been to these three blogs please stop by and tell them I sent you! They are all on social media too, making them even easier to follow.

  3. Samantha thanks you for your kind words...I hope it doesn't go to her head. LOL
I love how you write things in your head first, and figure out the photos as well. I often get my photos ready before writing my post as well. I wish I was a night person, because that has to be the best time to write....with no distractions. I really enjoyed learning more about your writing, Ann, thanks for accepting the invitation from both Misaki and us!

  9. That is all very interesting. We do like your blog a lot and think it is well written. We are blogging just for the fun of talking about all our silly cats here and hope that we entertain some of the people. Noting better than to have a good time at someone's blog. Great post.

  10. Interesting post! Everyone has a calendar and uses a calendar, but Mom just can't seem to do it. It is all in her head, so I have to make sure her head stays on straight or we will be SOL! Going to check out Keisha's blog, we don't know that one!

  12. I usually write my posts late at night, too. There's just something about writing at night; it's the easiest time for me to concentrate.

  13. It is so neat to hear about everyone's processes. I tend to "binge" write on the weekend, saving ideas from the week and having scheduled posts. My weeks can be crazy and I love to spend my time reading my pals blogs!

  18. Thank you for the nice intro. We’ve been kept busy blogging and having had time for anything. Also TW spends too much time on FB. MOL! Love your blogs but sometimes get behind. I’m glad you have another couple of rats cos I really miss Niblet.

    1. Don't worry Cathy because I seriously get behind too =/ So I understand! I really miss Nibblet too because these boy rats are just complete opposite of her practically. Not that that's a bad thing, but it's different :)

  19. I enjoyed reading about your writing process. I always appreciate the large, bright photos in your posts so I was not surprised when you said you like to get your images lined up before the writing part. Keep up the good work. I know you must put a lot of time into each post.
