Create a Daily Dental Health Routine for Your Dog #SmoochUrPooch

This post is sponsored by TropiClean and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about TropiClean Dental Products, but Pawsitively Pets only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. TropiClean is not responsible for the content of this article.

Keeping up with your dog's dental health can be challenging. Many dogs hate having their teeth brushed making it more difficult for dog moms and dog dads. My dog doesn't especially care for the whole teeth brushing thing, but I know it's important for her dental health.

As you can see, Shiner doesn't look happy about having her teeth brushed...

Did you know that 80% of dogs and 70% of cats already show signs of periodontal disease by the age of 3? When left untreated, oral disease can cause serious health risks for the rest of your pet's body and organs. All that bacteria in the mouth slips into their bloodstream. One of the first signs of oral disease in dogs and cats is bad breath.

How can pet parents avoid oral disease? Let me just say that dental health does NOT have to be a challenge or a struggle. It's something you should be diligent with, however.

That's where TropiClean comes in. We were recently invited to join the #SmoochUrPooch TropiClean campaign and so over the next few weeks, we will be sharing more about their healthy and natural products for pets. TropiClean uses wholesome ingredients to help your dog live a healthy and playful life. Yesterday, we just received a few products to try out and will share our thoughts on those soon.

With the arrival of our TropiClean products, I decided that it was time to implement a better daily dental health routine for Shiner. Sure, I brush her teeth every now and then but I could do better. Here's the daily dental routine we will be following over the next several weeks.

  • TropiClean Oral Care Water Additive - This water additive is easy to use. All you do is add a tablespoon to your pet's water bowl every time you refil it. This product promotes healthy gums and eliminates bad breath for up to 12 hours.
  • TropiClean Dental Chews - Shiner loves her treats so I'm sure she will appreciate this part of our dental health routine. Giving her 1 Tropiclean Dental Chew a day will help clean her teeth (without brushing) and freshen her breath.
  • TropiClean Clean Teeth Gel - Simply apply this gel directly to your dog's teeth with plaque and tartar daily. After a month of use, you can cut back to twice a week according to the directions. It helps produce a healthy oral environment, promotes periodontal wellness, and soothes minor gum irritations.
  • Teeth Brushing - Of course, I still plan to continue brushing Shiner's teeth like I normally do. In fact, I could probably brush them more often than I do now.

I'm excited to see how much nicer Shiner's smile will look after using this easy and non-invasive TropiClean dental health routine in a few weeks. I'm also looking forward to fresher doggy breath. It will make it much easier to smooch my pooch.

When do we start?

We'd also like to challenge our readers to implement a better dental health routine for their own pets! Is there something you could do to make your pet's dental health better? What things will you try with your dog or cat?

  8. We use TropiClean gel. I find Honey tolerates me applying it with my fingers far better than she does a toothbrush.

  9. That's so great you regularly brush Shiner's teeth! Looking forward to hearing about how well the TropiClean products work for him.

Wish there was a way to keep pet rat's teeth healthy----it always seems funny that they're an orange-ish color.

  10. I'm looking forward to learning more about this, especially the water additive. We need one that is safe for both dogs and cats. We don't have very good luck with teeth brushing, and Cricket just had to have hers cleaned at the vet. It all went fine, but I don't like to put them through that if I don't have to.
