One of the biggest challenges for me personally when it comes to exercising with my dog is that it can be difficult to toggle both a 2 year old human child and a curious 55 pound dog at the same time. Of course, we always manage to enjoy some outdoor time with Shiner every day no matter what the circumstances are.
A few weeks ago, I was introduced to a simple hands free dog walking device that had me wondering why I didn't already own something like this. This innovative product is made by Dutch Dog Design and is called the Buddy multi-activity dog leash connector. I began to imagine all the things I could use this simple product for and how much easier it would make exercising with my dog.
This post is sponsored by Dutch Dog Design and I have been compensated for my time reviewing this product. However, I only shares information I feel is relevant to my readers. All opinions expressed here are my own.
The Buddy can easily be looped onto just about anything - your backpack, bicycle frame, belt loops, or a stroller. So far, I have only tried the Buddy with Shiner attached to my waist using a special jogging belt from Dutch Dog Design.
The Buddy easily connects to any leash I want to use with a sturdy carabiner. I connect the looped end of the buddy to my jogging belt and I'm ready to go. For safety, the Buddy multi-activity dog leash connector is made with a bungee to absorb any sudden pulls from a dog.
Shiner has definitely tested the strength of our Buddy since we've had it. I got scared for a minute one day that it might break from pulling, but it proved me wrong and is working perfectly.
Me? Pull? I have no idea what she's talking about... |
There are two main reasons why I like this product for myself and my dog. The first reason being that it allows both of my hands to be free when I'm out with the dog and my 2 year old daughter. This makes it so much easier to hold her hand or push a stroller.
The second reason why I like the Buddy is that it makes my work photographing Shiner easier too. When I go outside to take photos, I've got a lot of things to carry with me usually. A big camera, props, a dog, etc. Not having to hold onto a leash while trying to carry all this stuff is awesome.
If you're looking to become more active and exercise with your dog, I'd recommend taking a look at the Dutch Dog Design website. They make a lot of really cool products in their DoggyRide brand for active dogs and people including dog bike trailers, strollers, and bike baskets.
The Buddy multi-activity dog leash connector is something I will probably be using on daily basis from now on. Walking the dog will never be the same, and that's a good thing!
What do you think of the Dutch Dog Design Buddy? How would you use a product like this with your dog?
I could so use this. When I am walking the dogs I have my camera too. Everytine I stop to take a photo, I have to drop the leashes, and Stand on them. Then hopefully still get my photo. Great review. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYep! Sounds like me. While I know not everyone does the photography thing, for me personally it's something I've found has helped immensely with it.
DeleteCOOL! one reason I got a new leather leash that it is multi-purpose (will share it soon). TRUE it is great to use when working out with your dog, like jogging or running. Golden Woofs
ReplyDeleteWe have been wanting a hands-free leash for some time too...especially for hiking! This sounds like a great product. Great review too!
ReplyDeleteOz
Hey, I know you guys like bikes too! Maybe your Ma could hook you up to hers with this.
DeleteThis is really cool, I hope one day I can use one of those!
ReplyDeleteI totally like the bungee, it looks good to me. Think I add the Buddy on my wishlist. thanks for a super review and for a cool gift idea!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea, just had to share it on my FaceBook fan page. I think my followers will just love it. What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks

Thanks Suzanne!
DeleteNow that's a deanr good idea and simple too!
ReplyDeleteI really need one of these! Since I broke my arm I haven't been able to take my dogs for a walk. I can only walk Nelly by myself right now.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope you recover quickly. I can see how this would definitely be handy for that.
DeleteFor us, anything that drags that low just means tangled paws and legs and a huge hassle. If I am hands free it has to actually be hands free not untangling every few minutes.
ReplyDeleteLol, well i can see how that could be difficult with several dogs actually. They do also carry a product to connect two dogs to the same leash. Not sure if something like that would help in this case.
DeleteI love a hands free leash for jogging with Cricket. It makes things so much easier. I don't quite trust them with the bigger dogs. The bungee in this sounds great for dogs who pull though.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty small, so I was concerned too since Shiner is bigger. I'm used to her movements and never felt like she was going to pull me over though. If it was a dog I didn't know well that was big, it might be a different story though.
DeleteAnn - I just ordered one! This is great because I've increased my walking and I am now taking my camera with me, love this ! Thanks so much....
ReplyDeleteWell - happy picture taking to you and Harley! Hope it makes things easier for you.
DeleteThis would help me - Caspian can't walk on his own but loves being outside. He's only 7 pounds and easy to carry, but that's hard when I also have to juggle Annie's leash. A hands-free option might be just the thing!
ReplyDeleteThis would be really great for us. We usually carry our camera and goodie bag on our walks and it can be difficult to juggle 2 dogs at the same time. I think the bungee part is really cool too!
ReplyDeleteMom wishes she could use such a thing, but if we see critters we take off and would just pull her right over so she has to have the leashes in her hands.
ReplyDeleteThat seems to be a common concern with this! It's definitely important to know your dog's habits and strength.
DeleteI love this! I have something similar, however it is very wide and bulky around my waste, so I stopped using it. With 3 huskies it gets hard to have to jumble leashes around all the time. Thanks fr sharing this!
ReplyDeleteღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
wish wish there were such wonderful products when Mom L walked her Sibes; one mile each every day...3 of them
ReplyDeletenow that is a clever idea!great review Ann,xx Rachel
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a pretty neat piece of equipment. Right now I am actually using an extra leash that is connected to itself and slung over my shoulder and then hooked to another leash as my way of going hands free. I think the Buddy Leash is probably a better way. Ill put it on my holiday list!
