Dealing With the Pet Mess Dilemma

If you have pets, chances are you've cleaned up after them a time or two in your day. I know I sure have. Even as a senior dog, Shiner still makes a nice mess every now and then. And our pet rats can be pretty messy too.

One of the most common pet messes I have to deal with as a pet parent is fur. That stuff is just everywhere! There's no getting around it - my dog sheds.

Her favorite place to shed  sleep is on the couch.

Since we are discussing the pet fur dilemma today, I wanted to introduce to you to a product that can help keep a household with pets cleaner. And it will make cleaning said household a little bit easier too. It's called The WISP and it's a pet hair broom made to collect debris and pet hair "quickly, effortlessly, and efficiently".

I've been using The WISP for several weeks now and agree that it does make sweeping much faster and easier. The design of the WISP allows me to easily reach places I normally couldn't without shifting some furniture around. Here are the things I like the most about it:

  • The WISP is easy to either push or pull, making sweeping the house easily adjustable to my needs.
  • It works and gets the job done. Simple as that.
  • Fits underneath hard to reach places that are difficult to reach with a normal broom.
  • It's lightweight, compact, and can be stored away easily.
  • You don't have to bend down and hold the dustpan. Just put your foot on the back of it and it stays put making it super simple to sweet up your messes.

The WISP has a feature that allows the user to make the handle shorter or longer. When I'm not using my WISP, I just do a few twists and voila! It's much smaller and easier to store away. The WISP also has a Storage Sleeve which you can hang from the wall. I haven't used this yet because I'm still deciding where I want to keep it.

I think my absolute favorite part about The WISP is the dustpan. You don't have to hold it or bend over to use it. Just set it on the ground, put your foot on it, and you are good to go. And it really does work. Crumbs and dirt don't sneak up underneath the pan, if you know what I mean. You can see The WISP at work in the short video below.

I also got to try out the miniWISP for Pets. It's just a miniature 6" version of the larger WISP. The bristles on miniWISP are made to collect pet fur so it's good for use on your couch, car seats, or bed. One great idea for using the miniWISP I see recommended on the website is to use it for sweeping out the litter box.

It just dawned on me that the miniWISP is the perfect tool to use for spot cleaning the rats' cage. They can get pretty messy and need spot cleaning daily, and the miniWISP is perfect for this. I just wish that I had this idea a little earlier.

What do you mean I'm messy?

This product has made cleaning easier in our home. Sweeping isn't my favorite thing to do, so time less spent cleaning is always welcomed here.

  4. I have two pugs and they shed like you cannot imagine. I have pet hair on everything and everywhere. I cannot hide it because I have 1 black pug and 1 fawn and so you cant see the black pug hair on the couch but you can the fawn. I thought I got all the hair off the couch yesterday before bed but after getting up to leave for work and I noticed the black hairs all over my white shirt I realized I did not. It is a battle I fight hour by hour.

  7. I don’t make a mess, she says icily. The peeps use a vacuum but this sounds like a better alternative. It’s good for in between vacuum days.

  8. Interesting sweeper concept. I wish our only messes were short-haired dog fur.
For my hamster cage, I use a cheap 2-1/2 inch wide paint brush (the disposable kind from the hardware store). I cut the handle shorter so it fit between the different levels of the cage.

  9. WOW......I'm a practically purrfect cat (hahaha) but with my medium hair furs I DO shed and Mom can see all of it on the hardwood floors (carpets hide it better!). So we could use something like this! Way cool giveaway.

  16. My furless mom would love this system to deal with all the luxurious, long fur I deposit around the "fur"-niture here in my feline abode....I mean "our" home. Thanks for the chance to win.....Signed: Flossiefluff

  17. Sounds like the PAWfect gadget for keeping up with dog fur. Harley really doesn't shed, and what hair that does fall isn't that much. Great giveway. Loved the video.

  18. I too have Pugs, I foster for Pug Rescue and oh yeah, they shed! However my worst culprit is my cat, Big Kev. He has "rabbit hair" AKA silky, long, and all over the house! This tool is intriguing, I would love to add it to my fur arsenal
