Make Good Happen With Bravo Pet Foods

Today, we have a very exciting announcement! We've been teasing you all just a little bit on social media. Starting last week, I began transitioning Shiner to a new diet. This diet is a little different than any other dog food diets she has eaten before. Shiner is used to eating a kibble diet, with some canned food and home-cooked meals on occasion.

So what is Shiner trying now? A raw diet. Yes - that's right! Feeding a raw diet to Shiner is something that has always interested me, but I've never been sure that I would be able to pull it off. It seems messy, time-consuming, and I'm not sure I have the know-how just yet.

Bravo Homestyle Complete Dinners for Dogs

This is different though. For the next few months with Bravo Pet Foods as our new sponsor, Shiner will be eating Bravo® Pet Foods Homestyle Complete® Dinners for Dogs. This food is made with premium, raw, freeze dried meat as the #1 ingredient. Bravo Homestyle Complete Dinners also include organ meat, vegetables, cranberries, and natural herbs. It is raw dog food that is designed to provide complete and balanced nutrition for dogs of all ages and breeds.

I first heard about Bravo Pet Foods from our blog friend, Oz the Terrier, who eats a raw food diet and we had our first opportunity to try some Homestyle Complete Dinners a several months ago.

It smells as good as it looks.

Now this type of raw feeding, I can do. The food comes in a resealable plastic bag, offered in a variety of sizes. It doesn't need to be refrigerated and you can store the food just like you might store dry kibble. All I need to do is add water to the food and let it soak for 15-20 minutes and voila! Shiner has a delicious, healthy, and nutritious raw food meal ready to go. Waiting seems to be the hardest part so far.

We'll keep you updated with our transition to a raw diet as we go.

Treats from Bravo Pet Foods

Bravo Pet Foods also offers a wide variety of yummy treats for both dogs and cats. Shiner has had her eye on a bag of Bravo Bonus Bites Dry Roasted Duck Feet over the weekend. I am waiting until after she has a dental procedure today to try them out since they look chewy.

Open this bag, human!

On the other paw, Callie the Calico has been happily munching on Bravo Healthy Bites Freeze Dried Chicken Breast and Turkey Breast treats for cats. She loves these things more than any other type of treat I've ever offered her. Apparently, Shiner likes them too... she stole part of a bag and helped Callie finish it off.

Bravo is the only brand of food and treats that I've ever had to make sure I hide from the dog. Otherwise, she WILL get into it.

Someone got into a little bit of mischief one day.

Other Products from Bravo Pet Foods

Besides Homestyle Complete Dinners for dogs and treats, Bravo also offers many other products for dogs and cats. Homestyle Complete Dinners are freeze dried raw diets, but Bravo offers Frozen Raw Diets for dogs and cats too, as well as a new line of canned foods. You can also find chews, bones, and supplements on their website

  1. It looks delicious, show it to people and no one will think that we talk about dog food. My grampy said next time, when my granny feels unwell, he will give her a bravo dinner when she asks for a soup, because that looks much better than one of his soups :o)

  2. Oh, Miss Ann, I am so excited that Shiner and Callie are trying all the delicious food from Bravo Pet Foods! It is so easy, isn't it to make the Homestyle Complete? Ma loves how it looks like real food, with its big chunks, as opposed to some other freeze-dried foods that look like mush. I cannot wait to hear how everyone does on Bravo.

  3. I wish Shiner well on her new diet. Raw food is just something that I don't think we will ever do not sure why though! Love Dolly

    1. I don't think I could ever do raw cuts of meat. If it's something that is already prepared and ready to go, I feel much more comfortable with it. I'd rather have the experts formulate the food than myself.

  4. Yes Schooner and Skipper eat raw! I buy beef, chicken and turkey for them. I have not ever tried Bravo and I am going to check it out for them. It looks delicious. Taking the bag and chewing on it would be Schooner. He watches every move I made and where I put things.

    1. Haha - well I don't think they have any duck feet for cats. I don't think Callie would be much interested in them either.

  6. Love the photo of sleeping Shiner with the bag fragment in your hand! Couldn't have been her. We aren't ready for raw yet. Maybe some day.

    1. I feel weird referring to it as raw food, because it just doesn't seem like it to me the way the food is prepared. But, that's what it is. Shiner is loving it!

  11. Congrats on taking the leap to raw! I am still doing THK - dehydrated human grade, that's about as far as I think I can go. It's been great so far so I know the sense of accomplishment when you've found something that's healthy and works well for your pet. Bravo Ann #punintended Keep us posted.

    1. Oh, Shiner has eaten that on and off too. It still doesn't feel like raw feeding to me. Will definitely keep you posted and thanks!

  12. i am a big fan of raw food. i have a hunter who hunts deer and he gives me human grade deer meat for my 3 dogs. i have also used blue ridge turkey, tripe and it is excellent. i get mine from the distributor so it is less expensive than if you buy in a store. i have also use red barn many yrs ago, over 15 yrs ago, but no longer use it, but it is a good product. i have used freeze dried in many brands as well, primal, stella N chewy, and have used the nature's varieity venison and rabbit raw. i used to totally cook my dogs food, but now only partially cook their food. i will give them sardines in water, cook salmon for them, and used to buy97% extra lean sirlion.

    1. That's awesome :) Sounds like they eat good! I have only cooked/partially cooked chicken for Shiner on occasion. She's had sardines before too. Maybe I should pick up some more of those sometime.

  13. My crew loves these, and I think shiner will flourish on raw!

  14. Like Emma and her crew, my crew and I aren't ready for raw either. Quite frankly I just don't trust it - not for myself, and not for my dogs.
