Decorating for Christmas With the Cat

Meow! I'm a bit late getting my Christmas decorations up this year, but then again I'm always late with them. This will be Callie's first Christmas with us and I'm extremely interested about how she is with Christmas decorations and the tree. I got a few things out these past few days and she seems curious. I hope to get my tree up today.

It was the perfect photo op, so I took a couple of cute shots. Callie had fun playing in the lights, tissue paper, and ribbon.

She tried to nom the lights some at first... had to stop that quickly!

Ribbon is always fun to play with!

I also discovered that it's difficult to take pictures of a dark colored cat in a low light setting. Maybe we'll play around with it again another day, but Callie had fun. (Despite some of her grumpy cat facial expressions in some of the photos. She has resting grumpy cat face!)

Does your cat like to decorate for the holidays?

  1. Although Sparkle and Binga (and sometimes Boodie) strictly supervised my human with Christmas decorations, they rarely caused trouble (well, maybe except for Binga). I bet I could cause more trouble than the three of them put together!

    1. Haha! I can't wait to see if Callie is a trouble maker. My KKMM loved Christmas, but she didn't really cause much trouble.

  2. Callie is so cute! <3 My cats are always so helpful when I'm decorating. They also like to chew on our tree. LOL!

  3. I saw decorating with the cat and thought...nah, that can't happen! I thought cats like to undecorate. BOL Callie seems to be into though and that's good. She has the spirit of the season.

  4. Since we are Jewish we don't decorate for Christmas, that being said, my first husband was Catholic and I used to decorate all of the time when my Angel Bobo was alive. It was so much fun. But....every time I would return home from work I would find the tree on the floor..........Bobo knocked it down EVERY day. He thought it was a giant cat toy.

    1. MOL! I think that would drive me crazy! The last time our tree got knocked over was when Violet was one year old. Hope it doesn't happen again.

  5. So adorable! I was worried about Mudpie this year too. It's her first Christmas with me and the world is her playground so my tree sat unlit, undecorated, and tied to the wall for two weeks! But she's been an angel and barely touched it. Oh, and trying to take pictures of a dark colored cat in a low light setting...welcome to my world!

  6. The first two years we had this set of cats was a real mess. Bert climbed the tree, chewed on decorations, etc. Now they don't seem to care about it at all.

  8. Beautiful and very festive pics! It will be fun to see how Callie reacts to the tree. Jasper liked to take a running start and shoot straight up the trunk in the middle... I would hear everything knocking together and go running into the room and he would be holding onto the trunk about 3/4 of the way up, looking at me like, Wassup? :-)

  10. Mom knows all about decorating with cats! When there were three she would be in tears as they destroyed all her displays, especially the Snow Village. She has pictures of a giant cat in the middle of the village squashing everything. Not to mention all the knocked off ornaments from the bottom of the tree. And don't get her started about her first cat that almost died from eating tinsel. Love Dolly

  14. I usually try to keep the pets out of my decorating! What they love even more than that though is wrapping...make sure you let Callie help you with that too. Sam likes to hold the paper down for me when I'm cutting. :)

  16. Callie is so cute!! Apart from an initial interest in the tree in my first year, I have never ever showed any curiosity at all since!!!
