So far, I've taken Jack outside twice and Gus out once. They enjoy playing and hiding in the flower pots and digging in the dirt. Don't worry, they are closely supervised and I put them in a place that's off of the ground where they can't run off or anything. They don't really come when called like Nibblet did.
What kind of adventures will you enjoy on this wonderful Wordless Wednesday?

ReplyDeleteThey are such sweethearts!
ReplyDeleteAww, so cute! You just need the squee squee sound effects on the page...
ReplyDeletethe nose between the flowers is super cute! Do you think they will come when you call them like Nibblet after a while or are they more "individualists"?
ReplyDeleteHmm not sure, maybe one day they will. If anyone, I think Jack could learn to do it.
DeleteOMD they are so cute. You should post a video for us. That would be fun. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Did one last week of them fighting, but will have to do an outdoor exploring video sometime. Trying to make more videos!
DeleteGreat pictures and so adorable. I bet they enjoy getting out and having some fresh air while getting to play in some good ole dirt :)

ReplyDeleteThose pictures are too cute! I bet they love getting some fresh air :)
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute, I'd be so afraid they'd run away!
ReplyDeleteI'd be so scared they would somehow get lost!
ReplyDeleteThey look like they're having a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteMiss Ann, since rats are so smart, couldn't you clicker train them to come when called? This way, you can snag them before they run away. Oh...and maybe you can teach them some fun tricks too!
ReplyDeleteHappy WW

Yes, I could. I'm not sure if it's harder to teach older rats tricks or not. I used to make a clicking noise with my tongue to get Nibblet's attention and she always came to me. So I guess that with her, I uexpectedly was training her also.
DeleteThose pictures in the flower pot are adorable, he's really enjoying himself! Love Dolly
ReplyDeleteIf they aren't the cutest things. When we had a guinea pig and a rabbit, I used to take them outside too. They never ran away, just loved being outside and nibbling on clover.

ReplyDeleteThose pictures are really cute. The middle one in the flower pot is great.
ReplyDeleteThey look like they really enjoyed being outside.
ReplyDeleteThat's adorable! Looks like they are having a blast in that flowerpot!
ReplyDeleteAnn, you're the bomb! You answered my question before I could type it. I wanted to know how you didn't lose them outdoors - and you told me! They are so cute, and they look like so much fun...
ReplyDeleteI wish I had taken my last rat outdoors because I totally would have let her on the ground. She was much more obedient than these two are.
DeleteWhat I would worry about is a hawk or other bird of prey would swoop down and whisk away a rat. Do you have protection overhead? Also, if they were to get suddenly startled or spooked they might jump up high out of fright and land somewhere on the ground and then run away to hide. Maybe I'm paranoid....but I'd love to learn more from your perspective.
ReplyDeleteGus and Jack are so precious!
We definitely have hawks around, but there is a shade cloth overhead because my parents own a nursery and that's where I live also. I don't *think* a hawk would want to swoop down with 3 humans and a dog around either. I don't really know hawk behavior, but it just doesn't seem like something they'd do. We also went inside the greenhouse for a few minutes which is completely covered as well. I don't trust these two as much as my last girl rat, so I keep my eye on them!
DeleteI knew you were keeping it safe. I appreciate learning from the additional details. That's so cool you can go inside the greenhouse and that you live on property with a nursery! Jack and Gus are lucky guys.
DeleteOh my goodness, they are adorable! Aw, it's so sweet to think Niblet would come when she was called - maybe these guys will get better about that over time. Thanks for sharing - these photos made my morning! :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun!!

ReplyDeleteSheba.
How cute! We didn't do much this Wordless Wednesday...just snuggled. Heather and Mr. K did get some homemade blueberry muffin doggie treats, though! Much love, The Scottie Mom.
ReplyDeleteThose flower pot pictures are darling!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! What an exploration!!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Is it possible to teach them to come when called?
ReplyDeleteOh yes - definitely! All of the tricks that you could imagine teaching your dog, you can teach to a rat too.
DeleteI missed this! Love the photos - especially the one with his cute little face sticking out of the flower pot.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! They are soooo adorable and seem to have a lot of fun outside :-)
