October is National Pit Bull Awareness Month and today, October 25th, is National Pit Bull Awareness Day. I first fell in love with this breed of dog about 11 years ago when I adopted my own.
For years, the American Pit Bull Terrier has experienced breed discrimination. While I do believe each breed of dog exhibits their own unique features and traits, I don't think "vicious" is a trait for Pit Bulls. Or any breed of dog for that matter.
Here is a little more about National Pit Bull Awareness Day from their website:
"National Pit Bull Awareness Day (NPBAD) is a day of appreciation and education designed to change perceptions and stereotypes about pit bulls and their responsible owners. NPBAD was established to educate and foster positive communications and experiences in the communities in which we and our dogs live, and it is an initiative dedicated to restoring the image of the American Pit Bull Terrier. "
Shiner and I would like to send you lots of Pit Bull kisses on this special day. Pit Bulls are very good at that, after all. Happy National Pit Bull Awareness Day!
Kisses to Shiner from us. So sad that the breed gets so much bad press over here too. Have a super Saturday.
