Pawsome Pet of the Week - Roper Needs a Home

This week, I thought I'd do things a little differently for our Pawsome Pet of the Week. Our featured pet is still very special, but he is in need of a little help. Meet Roper, a German Shepherd and Border Collie mix with a super sweet temperament.

Roper is great with small children. He currently lives with an infant and toddler. And my own daughter was around him very often when she was very young too. Roper is a senior dog and will turn 10 years old this year. He definitely doesn't look that old though! I can't believe it myself, because I've personally known him his whole life.

Aside from being great with kids and people in general, he is also good with other dogs and cats. He's been living with his sisters, a Miniature Schnauzer and a cat, for a very long time. Roper seems a little shy and quiet, but very sweet.

So, what does this amazing dog need help with? Well, he is looking for a new home. Unfortunately, his human brothers had some blood tests done and it has been found that they are both highly allergic to dogs and cats. I adopted his cat sister, Callie.

Roper's mom does not want to take him to the shelter and would like to try and re-home him herself. It's been a few weeks now, and she has not had any luck finding him a new family to live with. For now, Roper has to be kept separate from the toddler and infant in the house and his mom says "he is not getting as much love and attention as he deserves because he can't be out with our boys".

Roper is currently located in Round Rock, TX just outside of Austin, TX. What I'd like to ask from you is to share Roper! I'd really like to help him find the wonderful home that he deserves. His family is heartbroken about this, and they only want the best for him. I don't want to see Roper placed in a shelter.

If you or someone you know might be interested in adopting Roper, please contact me at annstaub@yahoo.com. Or maybe there is a rescue group that is interested in helping Roper and his family.

Thanks everyone from Roper! He appreciates any help he can get.

  4. I'll share Roper. I know this must be very hard on his family, especially the kids. I also recommend that your friend try Wagaroo. (https://wagaroo.com/). They offer a way for people to rehome their pets/adopt a pet. I featured them a while ago. http://www.dailydogtag.com/adopt-me/pawsitively-amazing-wagaroo/

    1. I think so... that's Gracie, the mini Schnauzer. She hasn't expressed any need to find her a home, so she must have found one for her already. She's a little younger.
