It's fun to celebrate special occasions with an extra special treat. It's even more fun to include pets in special occasions. Today, we are sharing an adorable new pet product that is perfect for treating your pet during celebrations or special events.
Yuppy Puppy City Kitty (aka YPCK) has just released their microwaveable cake kits for dogs and cats. These are an absolutely perfect way to treat your pet. Each kit comes complete with everything you'll need to bake a tasty cake for your pet. (Optional ingredients are not included.)
When I opened our package from YPCK, I was giddy with excitement to try these cake kits out. I don't think I've ever reviewed such a cute and fun pet product before. And I love that cats get to join in on this fun too. I can't say that I've ever seen a cake kit for cats before.
Yuppy Puppy City Kitty was founded by a woman named Stella Dowling. With the odds against her, she took a chance and made her dream come true by creating a company that would take her love of pets, her love of people, and her love of parties, and combined them into a powerful machine that will give independence and freedom to many others.

Kitty Kake
With that said, I'll talk about the Kitty Kake first. YPCK sent us a Kitty Kake microwaveable cake kit for cats in Nip N Cheese flavor. Callie loves catnip and cheese, so I figured she'd love these. She's constantly begging for shredded cheddar pieces and my kids' cheese cracker snacks.
The Kitty Kake kit comes with a microwave safe tray in the shape of 3 fish and a Kitty Kake batter mix. You don't have to be a master chef to bake these things. It's super simple. I had my kids help me with these. It was great for keeping them busy for a little bit.
According to the directions on the package, you just add water and the cake mix in a bowl and stir. It's optional, but you can also include a tablespoon of tuna to the mixture. I was out of tuna, so I used a little bit of canned cat food. After pouring the batter into the molds, I popped them into the microwave for 2 and a half minutes, let them cool for 10 minutes, and carefully removed them from the molds.
The Kitty Kakes came out of the molds easier than the Pup Kake did, but I'll get to that in a minute. I think they turned out pretty good. And what did Callie think?
Callie showed no interest in eating the cakes at first, which surprised me. But then again, there was a lot of dog action going on in the room at that time and that may have made her uncomfortable and unwilling to eat. Later on, I broke off a piece of Kitty Kake and she ate it out of my hand. I'm going to refrigerate these for her and let her snack on them for the next few days.
Pup Kake
Also now available from YPCK are Pup Kakes. We recceived the 3 Cheese Birthday Set Pup Kake kit. This cake kit is ideal for doggy birthday celebrations, but can be used for any special occasion. Or just because, if you want.
This YPCK Pup Kake kit comes with cake batter mix, frosting mix, a candle, and a microwave safe bone shaped cake tray. The Pup Kake directions are basically the same as the Kitty Kake directions. Just add water, stir, and fill up the cake tray. You can add a tablespoon of peanut butter if you want, but it's an optional ingredient. I went ahead and added peanut butter because why not?
The frosting is easy to make. It's mixed separately and you just need to add water to the mix. It comes out thick and creamy - very much like human cake icing.
Now, my Pup Kake did not come out of the mold perfectly. It was a little crumbly, making it tough to ice perfectly. I really don't care, because it was about to be devoured by two hungry dogs anyways. I iced the top of the cake, and left the sides bare.
I presented the Pup Kake to both Farrah and Shiner. They were more than willing to eat the Pup Kake. Although I kind of regret letting Shiner eat hers on the couch... The Pup Kake was a huge hit with both of them.
Pup Kakes are available in two flavors: 3 Cheese or Carob. YPCK also has a Pup Kake kit that is a mold of 3 smaller bones (kind of like the fish mold set for cats). These come without frosting.
Refils for the Kake pans are available for order on Yuppy Puppy City Kitty's website.
