I had a lot of cats when I was a kid. Most of the time, they just showed up on the doorstep or my mom somehow came across a litter of kittens somewhere and would take one home with her. My parents never kept exclusively indoor cats, so most of them did not grow very old.
Gris
My cat, Gris, was one of the reasons why I think I'm in love with gray or silver cats. "Gris" is gray in Spanish, so that's how she got her name. This kitty had quite the attitude and I was the only one she really liked or listened to. Everyone else said she was "mean", but I loved her and she loved me.Gris |
Puffy
Puffy was a petite tabby calico kitty. I know calicos sometimes have a reputation for having attitudes, but Puffy definitely did not! She was a sweetheart.
Puffy |
Puffy was so sweet that she allowed Gris' kittens to nurse on her even though they weren't hers and she had no milk... it was a little weird, but kind of cute all the same. She just lay there and let the little babies try to get milk from her. Puffy seemed to be a little "special" I guess you could say.
Time for a snack. |
Do you like looking through old photos of your pets?
Lovely stories and photos! Eagerly await Shiner's puppy picture :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't have any pictures of my childhood dog, I really should pull one out. We have lots of pictures out and about of Loki and Gemini, who went to the bridge 3 and 2 years ago. Thank you for sharing your past cats!
ReplyDeleteI found a picture of one of my childhood dogs too. Gonna share that one as well. :)

ReplyDeleteWe love grey kitties, you don't see them much here. :) xx00xx
ReplyDeleteMollie and Alfie
They were both lovely looking kitties. I have had many many cats live to old that lived outside. But we like the pictures. That is fun to look at old pictures.
ReplyDeleteMy KKMM was the oldest cat I've ever had. She liked to be outdoors a lot, especially in the summertime. Except for her last summer. She would't come in at all that year.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful cats!
ReplyDeleteThose a cute kitties.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, we had a neighbor who had a lot of cats. They never had the cats fixed and there were always kittens around their house. Back then, nobody thought any thing of it. Times have changed.
I did a whole series on my pets from the past (mostly cats)....it was so much fun going through the old photos, and brought back great memories. Gris' story reminds me of my cat Concha when I was growing up...she was a mottled grey, but also had several litters of kittens, and a sister that helped nurse them! Both Gris and Puffy were so cute!
ReplyDeleteOur mom has had several torties and they are sweethearts with big puursonalities.
ReplyDeleteAwww, they are beautiful. Thank you for sharing their stories.
ReplyDeleteGlogirly wants to do a post about the kitty that came before me sometime.
