First of all, that's just ridiculous and a silly supersition. Did you know that is some countries like Great Britain and Japan, it is considered GOOD luck to have a black cat cross your path? It's even good luck to keep a black cat in your home in some places around the world.
Black cats are just as good a pet as any other color of cat available. To show our appreciation for black cats on this special day, we've created a list of black cat super stars of the internet. Most of the cats on our list have blogs. If you've never met them before, stop by say hello and wish them a Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day!
- Zoe and Gracie of Animal Shelter Volunteer Life - These 2 lovely ladies help promote cat adoption from the rescue they were adopted from - PAWS in Norwalk, Connecticut.
- Nin from The Hailey and Zaphod Chronicles - A handsome and mature mancat who has a dog for a friend. I can't help but also include his black cat brother, Baggy, as well who recently crossed to the rainbow bridge.
- Carlos the Cat from The Daily Cat - This guy is just totally cute and always has fun adventures.
- BG and Black from Marg's Animals - These two black kitties live with their feral cat caretaker Marg. There are lots of other cats in their crew, but they are the only black ones (that I can remember).
- Austin from CATachresis - Austin actually has some white furs too, making him a tuxedo cat. Still, he's just too handsome and intelligent not to include on the list.
- Zorro from Swiss Cat Blog - Zorro is a young (mostly) black cat living in Switzerland with his new little sister - Pixie.
- Ernie from The Island Cats - Ernie is an awesome dude who shares his adventures with his bro-cat Wallie, and sisfur Zoey.
- Samantha from Wag n' Woof Pets - Samantha is a senior ladycat with an attitude.
- Black Cat Club on Facebook - This is a Facebook Fan Page that features 3 manly black cats. They share some pretty pawsome pictures of themselves over there.
I'm sure I'm forgetting someone on this list because there are just way too many awesome black cats out there to keep tabs on. Just another reason why they deserve our appreciation I think.
You know what else is kind of interesting about our black cat list? I heard that most black cats are males. Well, more than half of the cats listed here are mancats. Just a cool observation and a little trivia for you guys.
Which internet black cat super stars are your favorites? If you have anyone you'd like to add to this list, share them in our comments section! And have a spectacular Black Cat Appreciation Day!
We find it quite difficult to understand as black cats are lucky over here. We hope the week ahead see many adopted. Good luck to all. Have a serene easy Sunday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
That's why you guys are so cool!
DeleteCOOL! Seen many black cats this week. Today we are featuring Sugar's black cat friend Maynard. Golden Woofs
ReplyDeleteOh cool! I love that name! Will have to stop by to read about him.
DeleteOh, I'm going to check out those links, thank you for sharing. I didn't know that most were males either, I heard that about tabbies somewhere years ago as well. I love black cats, it's nice to know they have their own appreciation day.
ReplyDeleteWe think black cats are super special and it's only by luck of the draw that we don't have one living with us.
ReplyDeletePrecious is *almost* a black cat, but not quite!
DeleteWe love black cats (and all animals, too)! Heather and Mr. K have TWO black cat cousins. Glad our black furry friends are getting some love on the Internet these days. Much love, The Scottie Mom.
ReplyDeleteAs you know we have been a black cat house. I love back pets in general! So glad there is a day to bring attention to these beautiful overlooked animals.
ReplyDeleteWe love black kitties! Love the term house panther. We adore Ernie. We're going to check out some of those black cat blogs. What a great day!
ReplyDeleteI love black cats, having one of my own!
ReplyDeleteI guess I don't see your cats much so I didn't know that - very cool!
DeleteThank you so much for including Samantha! She was miffed that I didn't know about this day, but now she feels better! We don't know all of those other cats, other than Ernie and Nin, so now Sam is insisting we go meet all those other handsome black mancats. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe she can find herself a nice man? ;)
DeleteMeowska (aka,MC for Meow Cat) is our newly adopted Black Kitty. She is sweet and layed back. No bad luck here she was adopted just after I found out I had cancerous cells in one breast and at my lumpectomy No cells were found. IF I believed in the bad luck black Cat myth at all (which I don't), I would have to say she is pretty Good luck for me. As is I simply thank God for all our blessings including our little black cat.
