3 Ways to Keep Your Pet Healthy #GetHealthyHappy

As a pet parent, part of my goal for my pets is to keep them healthy and happy. During our time helping spread the word about Hill's Healthier Pets, Happier Lives campaign, we've shared several tips on keeping your furry friends healthy. Your pet cannot actively care for themselves, so it's up to you to ensure they lead healthy and happy lives.

I do many things to keep Shiner healthy and happy. She is now a healthy senior 11 year old dog and I hope that all the things I do for her help to keep her that way for many years to come. As a recap, here are 3 ways to keep your pet healthy.

Regular Veterinary Visits

In our first Healthier Pets, Happier Lives campaign post, we talked about the reasons why it's important to take your pet to the vet on a regular basis. Visiting the vet at least once a year is important for spotting health conditions before they become serious problems. Not visiting the vet for a year is like you avoiding your doctor for five years.

Waiting to see the vet... or go home!

At Shiner's recent veterinary check-up, we discussed potential health problems for her and my vet alerted me to some things that I should keep my eye on. Visiting your pet's veterinarian regularly will help you form a better relationship with them. It will also allow your vet to get to know your pet better, making it easier for them to spot problems in the future.

Choose a Healthy Pet Food

Eating healthy food is important for your pet. Proper nutrition plays a critical role in their overall health and well-being. At Shiner's recent vet visit, I discussed Shiner's diet with her doctor. Your pet's veterinarian can help you decide on a healthy pet food for your dog or cat.

When choosing a healthy pet food, you should consider factors such as your pet's age and special health conditions. Fortunately, Hill's Science Diet offers a full line of healthy pet food that address some of the most common pet health conditions.

For dogs, Hill's Science Diet offers diets for weight management, oral care, healthy mobility, and more. For cats, they have healthy diets for conditions such as hairballs, weight management, grain free diets, and oral care

These healthy pet food diets are available from your veterinarian and specialty pet stores.

Little Extras

Your pet's physical health is important, but so is their mental health. What good is a healthy body if you don't get to have any fun with it every now and then? Treats and toys are good mental stimulation for your pet.

Hill's Science Diet offers a wide variety of tasty and nutritionally balanced treats for dogs and cats. Shiner's personal favorite treats from Hill's are their Jerky Strips with Real Chicken

Don't forget about all the other things that keep your pet healthy too. Proper grooming, bedding, exercise, playtime, collars, and identification are all little extras that are important for keeping your pet healthy and happy. Sometimes, making your pet feel special with a little pampering is good for creating a stronger bond with them.

Get Healthy, Stay Healthy

Once you make it your goal to get your pet healthy, make sure they stay healthy. Don't fall behind on their veterinary check-ups and keep feeding them a nutritionally balanced diet!
