Cali is a calico cat, or maybe a tortie. She's not sure which. She is six years old and her nickname is "Lady Kitty". She acquired this nickname due to being the only lady in the house, besides her mom of course.
Cali was an abandoned kitten in Leicester, Massachusetts. She now lives with her human mama, two other cats - Tux and Newman, and two "goofy" dogs named Charlie Brown and Cooper in Spencer, Massachusetts.
I always like to ask our Pawsome Pet of the Week what makes them so pawsome? Here is Callie's response to the question -
"I am the only female pet. I am in charge. I am the pack leader. Don’t mess with me!"OK - got it. Don't mess with Cali! Sounds like she's definitely got things under control in her house. Being a confident ladycat is something to be very proud of.
Cali seems to enjoy being in high places and mentioned that her favorite activity is climbing the roof and hiding in her cubby hole in the attic to watch the world go by. One must make sure everything's in order as the leader of the pack. Snoopervision and surveillance are a must! In fact, snoopervision and telling time appear to be some of Cali's special abilities.
"My special ability is that I can tell time, and I always know where Mom is in the house, whether she’s upstairs or downstairs, I can always find her. I’ll climb up on the roof, and go to the nearest window to ask her to let me in."
When Cali is not busy surveying the world from her hidey hole, she enjoys eating fine cuisine.
Cali also prides herself in her unique and beautiful markings. She claims that her favorite thing about herself is her "markings". And rightfully so judging by her photos."I like to eat mice and birds! Er, I mean, Meow Mix dry cat food!! Yeah, yeah, that’s it!"
"Definitely my markings – I am the coolest-looking feline on the block, maybe even on the east coast…. Maybe, the world! My ears are bright orange, and when the light hits them just a certain way, they look way cool. Did you know that tortoiseshell cats and calico cats are almost always female? I heard there is a .1% chance, or less, that a tortie or calico can be male."
Cali also shared with me how she came to be called Cali. Her human mom named her after a song.
Special thanks to Miss Cali for taking the time for today's special interview here at Pawsitively Pets. You can find Cali over at her blog, k2's, k9s and kitties. You can also find her and her family on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Stop by and say hello!"Mom named me Cali after the song “Maybe, California” by her favorite musician, Tori Amos. We used to have a dog, Hector, who was a tri-color dog. Mom made up a song and used to sing it to us: “Calico dog, calico cat!”. She’s silly."
And be sure to stop by here again next Friday for another Pawsome Pet of the Week! Have a happy weekend everyone!
