After the passing of my first pet rat, Nibblet, I waited a few months and then decided to get some new pet rats. This time I wanted a pair and I didn't particularly care what gender or color they were. I looked on Craigslist and eventually found someone who was willing to drop off a pair of male dumbo-eared fancy rats.
I don't know much about their history and am not sure why the girl could no longer keep them. They were about a year old when I got them, so I guess now they are about two years old. They were already named Jack and Gus when I got them, and I didn't change their names. (They are named after the mice on Cinderella.)
Now on to the party! Be prepared for super adorable rat photos and an extremely cute party video.

Jack and Gus enjoyed some extravagant birthday party decorations. (Not really, but it's what I had in my house!)
After partying for a little while, it was time for some birthday cake! I didn't light the candles because I was sure that would end in disaster. They each had their own cake, otherwise they would have probably started fighting over it. The cake is just a yogurt granola bar rolled into a ball with a candle in it.
Yummy cake! |
No rat party is complete until a cat shows up and crashes it! Callie was interested in what was going on, so she hopped up on the party table and knocked everything over.
How come I wasn't invited? |
It was a fun party, and I can't believe I've had the boys for a year. Actually, it feels like I've had them longer than that. Here's to another fun-filled year together!
