Balanced Blends Offers Convenient Raw Diets for Cats and Dogs

We first ventured into the world of raw feeding about 5 months ago. Since then, Shiner the dog has tried a couple of different raw foods and I rotate some raw into her diet occasionally. However, Callie the Cat had never tried raw food until this month. This was our first time to officially try a complete and balanced frozen raw diet for cats and dogs.

The opportunity arose for my pets to try Balanced Blends Raw Diets for dogs and cats, and so I thought "why not?". One of my biggest worries with feeding the pets a frozen raw diet is that I'm going to get something wrong.

I know that you can't just put a piece of meat in front of a cat or dog and expect they're going to have a complete and balanced diet. Dogs and cats need a balanced diet with an appropriate blend of vitamins and minerals. That's something I'd rather trust experts with. And that's where Balanced Blends Raw Diets steps in.

Convenient Raw Diets for Cats and Dogs from Balanced Blends

If you have never heard of Balanced Blends before, it's probably because they are a new company seeking to provide appropriate diets for cats and dogs, as we would for the rest of our family members. They have the simple idea of blending the best of both worlds (science and nature) - a natural diet added with minimal amounts of vitamins and minerals, in turn creating a balanced and complete raw diet for optimum nutritional needs for pets.

All of the recipes that Balanced Blends offers meet the AAFCO standards for "all life stages". And NONE of their ingredients come from China. At the moment, Balanced Blends currently offers two raw diets for cats and dogs: Chicken and Beef.

Their diets are made with high quality, fresh ingredients. The Chicken that Balanced Blends uses is USDA Grade A, cage free, antibiotics free, with no added hormones. The Beef that goes into this food is USDA approved, naturally raised, antibiotic free, with no added hormones. All fruits and vegetables are organic, and are only present in the raw diet recipes for dogs.

On top of using quality ingredients in their raw diets, Balanced Blends also takes food safety seriously. Balanced Blends Raw Diets are applied with something called High Pressure Processing (HPP) in the final packaging stage to eliminate re-contamination. Their raw diets are also sent to a third party laboratory for pathogen testing and not sold to consumers until after the test results come back negative.

What makes Balanced Blends convenient is that they offer delivery to your home and the ability to set up a subscription so that you never run out. All you have to do is thaw the food and serve!

Our Pets Try Balanced Blends Raw Diets

Earlier this month, we were sent some of the food that Balanced Blends makes for our dog and cat to try out. I had no concerns with Shiner over the food, considering she likes eating raw meat just fine. Callie the cat has never tried raw food before, so I wasn't sure what to expect from her.

Gotta get every last lick!

As I had assumed, Shiner loves both the Chicken and Beef Balanced Blends recipes. For me, it just feels as though I'm thawing a piece of frozen meat and adding it to my dog's food. It's simple and I don't have to worry about the dog not getting the vitamins and minerals she needs from her diet.

I think I'll just take a nap...

And what about Callie? She took a little more convincing, but I'm quite pleased with how well she's doing. I followed some of the helpful tips on the Balanced Blends website on transitioning your cat to raw food. It's common and normal for some cats to take some extra time and tempting when transitioning them to a new diet.

This is pretty good, actually.

While Callie may turn her nose up at the food at first, if I mix it with her favorite canned wet food or some cat gravy, she digs right in. She's even eaten the Chicken recipe alone a few times.

  2. Great post, and such cute pictures! I love the picture of Callie lying on her side like she's protesting! Looks like she ended up loving it after all. Cats ...

No surprise Shiner loved the food too.

  3. Looks like a really great food. I have been thinking about switching our cats to a better food but have been a bit nervous due to previous issues with diarrhea. They have been on kibble for years since it agrees with them but I would love to transition to raw. Sounds very convenient to have everything premixed and all you need to do is thaw.

  7. I often consider raw for the dogs but had never even thought about it for Sam. She'd definitely need some gravy in there I'm sure, but I do wonder if she might like it. I just never know with her - she's so fussy!

    1. Hi Jan,
Raw actually benefits more to cats. Cats are obligated carnivores thus get most, if not all, of their nutritional need from meat. Because they have a low thirst drive, the high moisture content is also very beneficial to their overall health. If you are interested in trying our raw diets for cats, now is a good time to pre-order it at an Early Cat Special price. We also have a risk free, money back satisfaction guarantee if you are worried about Sam not liking it =). I hope you will consider giving it a try! - Yik

  8. Interesting. We still aren't ready to go full raw, but one of these days us dogs just might take the leap.

  9. We can fully attest to the incredibly positive impact a raw diet can have on (in our case) cats. The benefits are truly off the charts. You're right about transition... it can take some time and patience, but it is SO worth it.
